TOS: Ed O

Orgeron would definitely signal a new era. Not a Mack Brown kind of guy.
HaHa. That was my first thought as well. I heard he's a good recruiter with a potty mouth. Definitely not a Mack type hire.

He's interviewing for the HC position, if he is interviewing at all.
Texas is not interviewing Ed O for head coach lol. This was mentioned to be for a staff position, and the only way you have the guy in for something like this would be if your head man is known.

IF this rumor is true I think Texas knows who their hire will be, and Ed O would be visiting Austin with that guys blessing.

Would be a big time hire - a truly master recruiter

So, from what I can see and what I remember of Ed O, he's never been a DC, correct? This would have to be as a defensive line coach/recruiting coordinator type gig.

If true, and there have been a lot of rumors flying around so it's hard to know what is true, I would imagine this would be for a coach that has not yet coached his bowl game or for an NFL coach.

However, it seems very strange that you'd need to interview someone for a staff position. If a hypothetical "big hire" was already on board, wouldn't Orgeron interview directly with him?

Orgeron makes a lot of sense if Saban is the HC. He can handle the entire DL in Saban's 3-4 scheme and can recruit the hell out of not only the SEC area (especially Louisiana), but the West Coast as well.

Doubt Saban makes him DC, but I guess it's possible.

This would certainly represent a culture change in UT football. No question about that.

Orgeron definitely has ties to Saban. Any ties to Harbaugh? Doubt it would be with Fisher since he still has a few days until the National Championship game. Interesting indeed.

Ed Orgeron would be a fabulous hire here for any spot but head coach. The guy could recruit a fat kid to live off tofu. He's that damn good.

Amazing change at UT if true..Hope Saban can keep him from an embarrassing NCAA problem though. Somehow I believe in Saban's ability to do this.

That means that some future coach is having us vet his staffing candidates. Lining the them up so to speak. So they can hit the ground running when the new coach comes on.
SUFFICIENCY!
Who would be interested in Eddy as DC? Saban? I was hoping that this would lead us to a clue, but I think a lot of people would want Eddy.

What if Saban already knows he wants to take Texas Job?????? Kiffin being at the bama practices means Kiffin as OC @ Texas. Then bring in Orgeron as DL coach. Talk about an ALL STAR team of coaches on staff. We have the $$$$$$$$$ for that fo sho

Orgeron has never been a defensive coordinator in his life. If he's truly being interviewed it's more than likely as as DL coach/Assistant HC/Recruiting coordinator role. No way you give him the DC title for the first time in his career at a place like Texas.

I think he'd be a perfect hire for an NFL guy like Harbaugh who isn't adept at recruiting. Why not hire the best recruiter in the country to come in and help you learn the ropes?

^^That made me laugh out loud-- thank you for that!

I hope some conformation comes soon bc this would indeed be a great for recruiting. Hook'em
