I'm not normally a big drinker, but this week has been killer. I need something to happen so I can get back to my LIFE- not that I'm really complaining, but my Netflix queue is screaming my name. And the husband needs me to get back to screaming his. That's why my wife has the keys to my "happy cabinet" my friend, I get them once everybody is in bed! lol
I am 13 hours away but if can hold off until 10 am I am willing to drive straight through and have your back.If Powers and Patterson don't have the balls to do it, they can deputize me. I'm 3 hours hours from Austin and will have him kicked to the curb by midnight tonight!
I wasn't going to post this but since this thread came up here it goes. This is from Lotus Horn again.
First, this comes from four sources. One worked with Nick Saban for many, many years. The other is someone with big ties here at UT and is thinking no matter who is the next HC they hope to work with them. The others are reading Bobby and Jeff on here. So this is just me taking it all and making an educated guess. I'm able to learn:
1. No negotiations are going on right now by Sexton with anyone on UT's side.
2. No negotiations are going on right now by Trace Armstrong with anyone on UT's side (that will now cover the CAA agents able to negotiate for CAA coaching clients).
3. Certain coaches wouldn't want to negotiate at this moment due to recruiting.
4. Mack Brown wants to enjoy the banquet.
5. The reason NFL journalists are reporting on Texas' interests is that people just outside the program (BMDs) have been calling and asking opinions about Harbaugh. Nothing has more leaks in it than an NFL program.
6. Urban Meyer while perhaps the greatest coach winning percentage wise in the modern era (84%) has hurdles to clear due to some big money having issues with him ditching Florida.
7. Texas wants Saban first, and foremost.
So I guess:
If these guys are right, expect Mack to resign on the 16th or after. Then CAA will begin negotiations with Patterson, Hicks, and McCombs on behalf of their client(s). Interviews will be set up and TWO CAA possibly THREE prospects within 24 hours, with an agreement within 72 hours of Mack resigning. New Coach announced on Friday. I have no idea who the CAA clients are, but if I were to guess: Saban, Harbaugh, Meyer, and in that order.
Having heard this, it makes sense because of the recruiting dead period. If Saban isn't 100% sure on leaving (and sorry guys, but no way he is 100% sure, I'm told by the friend of Saban that it's about 60/40 that Saban leaves) he doesn't want this to interrupt his recruiting. So these delays aren't really delays at all. He would prefer to talk once the dead period is in place. The other coaches fall in the same category if they're college coaches, they have a job now, don't let a possibility interfere with the job you have.
Also Red McComb has never met Saban. So if they meet and don't get along.... Saying it's a done deal is way, way, way premature. While some big guys at Texas have issues with Meyer abandoning Florida, they aren't rude enough to decline interviewing him if Meyer wants an interview.
I'm thinking Saturday, then Saban will announce Sunday.I don't expect an announcement until Sunday about Mack retiring, if it happens at all ( which I think it will). Don't think he'll allow anything to get in the way of the banquet and the recognition of the players. Just my 2 cents.
yes!damn right our bmds and patterson & especially powers have no balls! None. You don't need a meeting. Call jos ass up and say "there will be an announcement on tv tomorrow, either you will make it or i will."
Some Ley .925 and a couple of Gurkha Majesty’s Reserves?I have been told that McCombs had Saban at his place last night.
