Memorial Day has it's begining during the Civil War as people would "decorate" the gravesites of those who had given their last full measure of devotion to their nation.
Celebrated on the last Monday of May, it became a national movement after World War II and was officially recognized in 1967.
It has gradually become a holiday that is best known for kicking off summer and the Indy 500.
For many of us, it is still about remembering those absent companions no longer here.. . . .they are the Load we Carry.
A friend and Navy SEAL, Clint Bruce has created a relay march from West Point, through Annapolis (where he was captain of the football team), through Atlanta culminating in Dallas on Memorial Day.
We will march in downtown Dallas for 20 hours and 15 mintues, carrying our brothers and sisters no longer here. Join our team, make a donation (100% of the proceeds will support local veteran and 1st responder support groups) and keep the true meaning of Memorial Day in your hearts.

I'll be carrying 1st Lt (USMC) Don 'wooly bear' Woollett who we lost 23 Oct 1983 in the Beirut Barracks Bombing and LtCol (USMC) Keith Sweaney, HMX-1 pilot (the Marines who fly the President) and who was slated to be the 1st V-22 squadron commander.
