The Pat Moorer Thread - Who works out here?

True - to some extent. But snacking is unscheduled eating and soon the body requires that it becomes scheduled eating. Then you could essentially be eating 5 - 6 meals a day WITHOUT a reduction of volume of the 3 meal a day regimen. This is the problem.
I know it sounds hard because of the all the prep time, but 5 small meals a day work.

Been doing crossfit for three years. In my first nine months I dropped about 40-45 pounds. Ate strict paleo diet and worked out three to four times a week.
The past four to five months have been tougher for me to keep up with crossfit. I think a combo of getting burned out and wear and tear over three years is catching up.
Joined CrossFit last week. Wow! I'm so addicted! I've been going everyday and since then, my sleeping has been much better! I love sweating!! Best thing I've done this year!

Crossfit is great but I didn't have the best technique so tweaked one of my knees (ACL tears in both knees from Ultimate Frisbee). Decided to tone it down.

Working out for me is rock-climbing twice a week, swimming at the UCSF pool twice a week, and then doing sessions of FitStar (an iTunes app) 4 times a week. I cycle to work once a week and then try to get a longer ride in on the weekends.

Very cool!

Which one did you join?

My wife and I own CrossFit Los Alamos. I can't believe the results.

Have fun!

I workout! Shout out to my trainers @ SF Fit Life!
Due to my bad knees.....

...burpees....lots of squats and lunges for nice thighs and butt.
How are these exercises helping your knees?

They help alot especially my atrophied knee/quad. I've gaind 1/4 inches of quad muscle on my bad leg. Still 1/2 inch to go.

Is that the one run by Kelly Starrett? If so, you are at a great place considering your limitations. He is an amazing physical therapist (Ph.D.).

Glad you like it. It is definitely addictive.

Yep! It's his gym. I haven't worked with him, but going to beginner cross fit classes. For example, for power cleans, I am using dumb bells. I really love the high intensity exercises and keeping my heart rate high for a extended period of time. And they adjust exercises to my ability and I only go as far as I feel comfortable with my knee.

I dropped my personal trainer workout yesterday due to the unlimited session membership I signed up for. I love this! Hoping to drop 5 lbs and 5-7% body fit and gain hot abs before my trip!

Ive got to make some modifications once I can get the right supplements in about a month, but I (at least I think) am living proof you can do anything. I started out June 3rd of last year at 395lbs, benched 145, and ran north of a 25 minute mile. Absolutely f****ng pathetic to let that happen. I started watching calories, dropped sodas, fast food, and processed foods and have progressed into a five to six day a week training regimen. Work out alone at our local gym in Taylor (HtFit).
Still a long way to go, but Im down to 307 with a 260 bench and 12 minute mile. The hardest thing has been balancing strength training and weight loss. They are not exactly conductive for one another.

There arent many photos of me out there when I was working as the Goodyear blimp, but the one I saw for the first time the other day makes me absolutely sick.
HS Strength Coach here...

Strength training will burn fat. Your weight number may increase temporarily, but the measurements will continue to go down. There will be fluctuations in how much weight you are losing, but concentrate on your measurements changing than the weights going down. The more muscle you create the more fat will be burned for energy.

If you've already lost a 100 pounds, I'd continue the food restrictions (sodas, etc) and start doing lower weight/higher reps 4 days per week and go higher weight/lower reps on the other two. This way you get the best of both worlds (lifting for cardio purposes and for strength gains).

If I can help at all let me know...you know how to find me on twitter.

Red, I'm trying to lose 5-10lbs with 5-7% body fat reduction in 7 weeks. Besides going to Cross Fit 5 times a week, but should I be eating? How much caloric intake? 1500 daily?

Does Cross Fit make you hella hungry? I'm eating 2 meals for dinner since beginning Cross Fit. Is that normal?

I just had a Subway sandwich. Now craving a hamburger. Last night, I had a bowl of ramen and a Totinos pizza.

My goal to lose 5 lbs is a total fail.

I agree, very effective, though I had to stop (rotator cuff tears, both shoulders, non-lifting injuries). Want to get started again, combined with cardio. This routine was most effective for me.

Dude, seriously, that is bad eating.

Here - "Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar. Keep intake levels that will support exercise, but not body fat."

white flour bad mmkay? (subway/hamburger buns, etc.)
