What in the world? How did Ash and McCoy come out of spring dead even. There is no way they were even. I sure hope Mck isn't letting his relationship with the McCoys cloud his judgement here.

How comfortable you are with David Ash going into the season this year?Last year there were 4. We have two older guys now that have been through the Harsinwhite offense. We are coming in at a much better place this year. They left Spring practice dead even. 2 is more difficult if the chemistry isn’t working well. David and Case are working well together and more concerned about winning. Connor Brewer played in the Spring and we will get to see Jalen Overstreet this summer.

Mack, what do you need from Jordan Hicks this year and his progression?

We lost Robinson and Gideon and Kheeston and the question is who will step up. Hicks needs to be the leader in that defense.

Your guess is as good as mine. Mack alluded to the fact that sometimes when the coaching staff needs a little more clarity on determining which qb has played the best, they will ask the players. I hope he asks them and they tell him!

It is frustrating to hear him continue to level them both on the same field. I agree with him that we need to have a backup ready to go but the team needs its leader.

Case can make some throws, but he leaves throwing balls too short. And Ash shows the ability to keep a hold of the ball and manage the game as well as make plays with his feet.

Ive seen it live. Case has a weak arm. Change his last name, he's not on campus. He's just not that good ohysically.

I think most Longhorn fans realize that Ash is the better player and will most likely get the start at qb this season. The concern is the meddling or toying with Ash and his development as a starter. Injecting McCoy into the offense for no real reason or because Ash has a hiccup or makes a turnover is not cool. He needs to learn from his mistakes without the fear of thinking he will be replaced immediately. Confidence and support from your teammates, the coaching staff and also the fans is imperative to a qb's success. How much confidence can a guy have if he is being mentioned in the same sentence as a teammate who plays the same position?

I heard a great quote today from a Big 12 head coach when asked why did he name his QB so early in the spring, the coach stated "I wanted my team to know who was going to be their leader from the start..." Mike Gundy, Head Coach OSU. Reigning Big 12 Champs.

Don't need 37 years of experience to figure that out. The players need to know immediately, not guess or make the determination on their own. The head coach needs to come out flat say, here is your leader, now let's go.

You would think that is a given with coaches. I am frustrated beyond belief that coach continues to pussyfoot around this. We haven't had a starter named in 2 seasons and we haven't progressed much because of it. As a season ticket holder I am irate. Do we simply have a tandem of mediocre quarterbacks with a low level of talent? I would like to understand the rationale. It makes absolutely no sense to me.

Naming a starting quarterback is a novel concept, I know. I can see last year but NOW? It's time to get this done. Ash, Ash, Ash... Who's with me? Ash, Ash, Ash..... a little louder now:

I think he is scared to so that one doesn't get a sense of complacency in the position. We need Ash or someone to step up. No BSing around.

This is a big year for Mack. Not to get into it too much but if Texas has a mediocre season again because of poor qb play, then Mack will be on the hot seat.

Kind of hard to sell this when a significant % of the team knows Ash isn't very good.
