Talks with John Harbaugh have gone to the next level.

More on this will be coming later.

Patterson is not going to be caught with his pants down.

Nice...

Definitely a good thing.

After Saban this is probably the guy you go after if Texas can get him. I just never felt getting a Harbaugh was possible.

We all believe we know how competitive Jim Harbaugh is. To me, he appears to be right up there with Pete Rose in that regard. It left quite an impression on me when big brother's team defeated little brother's team.

I like both of these guys as the Texas HC. Jim was always my first choice but I have been warming to John since the last Super Bowl.

Just for the sake of argument, what is it about John H that makes him a target? I know he's got a SB ring, but he hasn't coached in the college ranks in 16 years. Personality-wise I think he's legit, but can he succeed as a college HC?

Ultimately I would not be upset with this hiring; only though if all other options were off the table.

While John Harbaugh doesn't have the benefit of known success at the college level like his brother, he's an elite coach at the NFL level with a history of being able to relate to players and a reasonable amount of college experience. Plus, he can always bounce things off of his brother.

This would be an amazing hire if true.

Thanks, McPhaul. The twists and turns of this are so much more fun than suffering through the last 4 years of Mack Brown Texas Football.

My only concern would be if Harbaugh came to Texas and later decided to go back to the NFL, but worry about today's problem today and tomorrow's problem tomorrow.

Stay after it Patterson! I think I would prefer John over Jim because he is less volatile and can show recruits a super bowl ring (I know Jim is still in the hunt for one this year). He might accept the demands of the LHN better and be less of a risk on camera too. Now is he a better candidate than Fisher?...not sure about that, but he might be considered a "bigger splash" hire than Fisher. Nothing equal to Saban of course.
