The NFL coach is a superior coach, in general, to the college coach as far as Xs and Os.
The pro game, with its parity via the draft scheme and salary cap, does not allow for the talent advantage that is possible in college.
As a result, player development is also at a premium in the NFL. I think development is superior with successful coaches in the pros because they do not have the ability to have a talent advantage for long, if ever.
I do not know how well John Harbaugh would recruit at Texas but I do believe that Texas, to a large extent, recruits itself when the winning foundation is in place.
For theses reasons I believe John would be extremely successful within 2-3 years at Texas.
