The 10-12 Silents . . .

RB Caden Durham goes to Duncanville and is in the 2024 class.

The On3 Consensus has him ranked 129th nationally, 10th best RB, and 26th in the state of Texas.

The 247 Composite has him ranked 170th nationally, 12th best RB, and 30th int he state of Texas.

A lot of people think he is underrated.

I have become completely sold on Red. For what ever reason I see "star" all over him. How many kids would willingly step into a RB room with Baxter,Blue, Brooks, Robinson and Wisner? I realize the WR room was also stacked, but I think Red is a better fir at RB. If he gets a chance I expect him to ball out. He is my new favorite player.

Oh just thought of something, wasn't he just sophomore last year? Maybe my memory has once again failed.anyway ?

No, actually I think you're right. Riden or something similar is his name. And he is in the '25 class.

With the Portal recruiting high school kids are becoming less as important and a smaller piece of the puzzle.

FWIW. Sark and most coaches at big time football schools view high school recruiting and their development as the lifeline of the program. The portal is viewed as a vehicle to fill holes, and grab a few high level guys that shake loose from other programs.

I think for Texas ,high school recruiting is only marginally less important because of the portal.

Maybe... In todays world of CFB waiting on development may cost them their job. The portal is and will become increasingly important. Especially for certain position groups.

That seems like more of a year one and two issue,  assuming you can recruit at a high level,  like we have seen. Sark actually started out being more active in the first 2 portal cycles.

Lots of the players they took from the portal didn't pan out. Players that enter the portal often have issues. Given the 85 limit you are generally going to have to push a player into the portal for each guy you take out of the portal.

If the staff wants to optimize the roster,  then there are definitely portal players you take, but If a program is firing on all cylinders most of the roster will be players that were recruited out of high school.

Nil is effecting recruiting more than the portal IMO. What seems to realy decreasing s J C orC C. recruiting.
