****Texas @ WV Sunday Baseball Thread****

what the hell...maybe playing on the road isn't the end of the world. we swept ou in norman, won at rice and took 2/3 in lubbock. meanwhile, we've lost 3/4 home conference series.

there...how's THAT for lipstick on a pig.

Just got a text from someone who would know that Texas more likely than not lost hosting a regional today. Not just super regional but a regional. There's just to many schools in Texas to give UT one when we haven't displayed we deserve it.

I don't doubt that's the case as of right now, but there is too much baseball left around the country for this to be a concern.

I'd like to see it be turned over to Skip.

I preface this by saying I'm not a huge baseball guy and don't really follow the team...

But why Skip? What would a promotion from within do to the program? Would he follow Augie's mentality? If not, how is he different?

Thanks in advance.

I think Skip knows what it would take to turn this thing around.  As it stands, Augie is the man in charge, and while Skip's input is taken, I feel that whenever Augie wants to override the decision, he can do so.

Skip has fantastic relationships with many MLB players, and they come back to Skip in the off season for training. That type of thing is good for the program.  To have those kind of successful players around is not a bad thing.

Skip knows pitching.  Hard to just run out and get a guy that knows that.

Skip knows UT.  He knows the expectations, the system, and the HS baseball scene.

I think he's ready to take the helm, but that's just me.
