Texas officially announces coaching staff

Actually this isn't true. We were one win away from the conference title. That's closer than 6-6.
Look, being concerned about Charlie Brown and his coaches seems strange to me. The last 4 years have been nothing but lamenting about Mack Brown and how bad he was.

Can this group of coaches be any worse?

What I like is Patterson and Strong are LEADING! They are puncturing the rotten culture we have had for all these many years. Surely you have to like this?
Actually, post-Diaz, we had several beatdowns including OSU, Baylor, and Oregon. Almost won the conference title...isn't this the "ribbons and orange slices for everyone" culture we derided Mack for? I don't feel like this was a Big 12 runner-up team.

Why is it strange to question the hires? Every move, phrase, press conference, Mack was scrutinized. So Coach Strong gets a pass because...he's not Mack? I'm concerned about the hires.

"Can this group of coaches be worse"? Outside of Wickline and Bedford, yeah, they could. It's an unknown. IMO, we had a very good staff post-Diaz. But, the point is, we needed to upgrade, not just "try not to be worse than the last guys".

I agree the culture will change quickly, and this is a good thing.

We were one bad call away from losing to Iowa State. We were one 4th down call away from losing to West Virginia. Thinking that we let a hard fought victory slip through our fingers against Baylor and we almost won the conference is absurd.
I am looking forward to next season as I have almost every season. I am thrilled we no longer have the mediocrity of Mack, but let's be honest. Right now, a lot of coaches in he Big 12 are sighing in relief we didn't put together a high-powered staff to run our offense.

Gundy knows what Wickline is going install better than Wickline knows it. Even Holgerson knows it better than Wickline. Stoops has no doubt he can shut down what Wickline is going to try to install. Phil Bennett isn't worried. We aren't about to do anything on offense multiple teams in the conference aren't already doing better with people who have shown they know how to run it. Watson isn't bringing anything Stoops hasn't shut down every time he has seen what Watson has to offer. Same with Gundy. We are installing an amateur run version of what Holgerson and Gundy have been running for years. Its not a new scheme to defend against, especially when its not being run at its optimum.

Well now that you have explained and clarified, there is no real reason to play. Let's shut down the program, we are going to suxx

It's not an anti-Strong sentiment. It's stunned disbelief that when tasked with building the best possible staff, Strong chose an O-Line coach who literally hasn't called plays since Ronald Reagan was President to run the offense, Shawn Watson, a two-time Big 12 cast-off with virulent anti-Texas sentiments and Koenning-an aggy cast-off who hasn't put anyone in the NFL in recent memory, if ever. This is that staff offensive recruits are supposed to believe is their first choice over playing for Briles, Sumlin, Stoops, Gundy or Kingsbury?! This is one of the best staffs in college football?! Maybe so, but until it's proven on the field, a lot of us are going to be skeptical.
No it's because some people believe they know what is best for Texas than Strong... and if they were honest they would admit that they really don't know what the heck they are talking about..
