How long are you willing to give Charlie to get it right? 10 years?

It's gonna be tough to pacify the BMDs who weren't high on Strong in the first place with another performance like the TCU game.

This team looked ill-prepared and unmotivated

This whole freaking season and last two of last year. We are getting worse. We are getting embarrassed way too often

I didnt expect Texas to win.  I do expect Texas to come in with a game plan and preparation to be competitive.  These mental mistakes a few times can blamed on players but week after week this becomes a coaching issue.  This team is not improving.  Its one thing to lose to a very good team but to get blown out by EVERY good team is....

The same mistakes 9 months later.  3rd and 4 blitz coming and all receivers are running go routes.  Where are the slants and outlet routes?  The wins vs Rice or close games vs average teams is a mirage.  This team will be lucky to win 4 games this year.

In the end if the players arent improving then its a coaching issue.

It's one game.  Does anyone really think the Longhorns were going to beat TCU?  The Horn's could easily be 3-2 at this point.

You can't fire a coach mid-season like this.

This isn't NCAA Football on Xbox. You can't just max out your time on a few blue chip recruits and expect them to come because "Texas". Think about if you are a Junior, here is what has happened in the last 3 years (off the top of my head):

2 head coaches.

3 assistant coaches fired, one in-season (Manny Diaz), at least.

1 offensive coordinator leaves for another job (Harsin).

3 offensive scheme changes.

2 defensive scheme changes.

Multiple transfers.

Look, is it fun to lose by 43? No. However, Oregon lost by 42 last week. I know, they are in a better position but shit happens. This is college football, it changes constantly. Our coaches can't go "We're Texas" and boom, get a commitment. Baylor, TCU and Texas A&M have more established programs and systems that will create stability that recruits want.

And the fans suggestion is to create more instability? Get real. It's growing pains. Is he the right guy? I don't know yet but many thought the same for Mack Brown until he got the program rolling 4 seasons after he got here. IT TAKES TIME.

We played a defense that is less experienced than ours (only 2 returning starters)

Makes the outcome even more disappointing

I'm not on the Fire Strong bandwagon, but I do think the overall staff needs to rethink their teaching approach

Yea I prefer to lose every big game by a combined score of 167-27.  That is reality.

TCU L 48-10
Arkansas L 31-7
Notre Dame L 38-3
TCU L 50-7
OU ?
TT ?

I liken it to when the boat is sinking "Hold fast and bilge the water out faster" concept.  Sometimes when its going down its going down, whether you like it or not.  My biggest issue with the coaching is this team comes in so unprepared and unmotivated.  That type disease spreads as time goes on.  Losing becomes addictive and infects the entire team.  The coaches either have to show improvement or move on.  Dont you find it odd that the freshmen seems to play harder than the seniors?  I think this team gave up on the coaching staff already.

Just saw the CS press conference. He looks extremely dejected. Stared at the podium a lot. Feel sorry for him

Where is the improvement since last week. When have we seen Charlie Strong put three games together showing improvement from week to week to week? The Kris Boyd shows a lack of focus and a lack of discipline. The team is a disaster in every aspect of the game.

Continuing to go in the wrong direction will not get the program headed in the right direction. If you watch any of Charlie Strong's press conferences, he is unquestionably a man with no answers.

The path forward is uncertain. What is for certain is that Charlie Strong isn't leading the program forward.

Don't think Strong should be fired yet. But he is only as good as his coaching staff. Norvell is on a short leash, if he wants to start JG over 33 then his eye for evaluating talent is terrible. CS needs to focus completely focus on fixing the D. That is his bread and butter.

When Coach Strong was hired, he supposedly had an "open check book" to hire "the best in the business." Charlie Strong built this coaching staff. He shouldn't get a pass for the crappy assed coaching staff, it should be noted that the reason the coaching staff sucks from top to bottom is because of decisions Charlie Strong individually made.

I agree. In order for Strong to save his career he needs to find a way to reignite the fire inside his staff. They have to transform into better teachers of fundamentals. I hope there is a way to salvage the year. Starting from scratch again is not appealing
