Couldn't really tell if this mom post was good or bad for UT. She seems to like the Strong core values, but possibly not happy with playing time or number of wins? Was this an interview by media? Question why she is putting this out other than to threaten a transfer? Should we send out some participation trophies to appease everyone?

Sorry SHA but this statement is rather pompous.  Here is break down of the offenses and how they fared vs a depleted TCU defense.

Minn  - 197 passing,  144 rushing, 74 plays for 341 yards = 4.61 avg ypp
SFA   -   21 passing,  146 rushing, 57 plays for 167 yards = 2.93 avg ypp
SMU  - 334 passing,  174 rushing, 79 plays for 508 yards = 6.43 avg ypp
Tech  - 392 passing,  215 rushing, 84 plays for 607 yards = 7.23 avg ypp
Texas- 122 passing,  191 rushing, 79 plays for 313 yards = 3.96 avg ypp
 
Look at the avg ypp the only school that did worse than Texas was SFA (0-5) and only by ONE yard per play.  While SMU (1-4) almost doubled our offense output in the same amount of plays.
 
To say a school like SMU or Rice doesnt belong on the field with Texas is either unwarranted arrogance or denial.  Im going to pick the latter since it appears to be contagious on this message board.

If you really believe SMU is straight up that good – and that the TCU defense it played was the same one that played us – I'll have whatever it is you're having because it's obviously making life a bit more simple for you.

Yes, we can assume that TCU took SMU lightly and just didn't show up to play that day.

That way we don't have to ask ourselves why it is that SMU can play a competitive game against TCU and we can't.

Of course I do not believe SMU is that good.  My point is we are that bad.   But to say SMU doesnt belong on the field when they were competitive the whole game vs TCU and we obviously were not is arrogant.  UT didnt deserve to be on the field with TCU, especially after watching the first 13 minutes.

I am sure TCU gets up for kicking our ass more so than SMU.  Its always great as a UT fan to watch them giggle their ass off at our team, isnt it?

It seems so convenient a lot of you guys make excuses for this team's poor preparation and lack of discipline as the kids are stupid or just zero talent.  

The problems with this team go beyond just poor talent.  Maybe hiring a special ed coach to help those college student athletes you guys claim have zero "mental talent"

I mean if you're right, I'd expect SMU to have been ranked in the top 10 the following week. If we're going to say SMU is almost as good as TCU because of that game, then put SMU in there at about #9 and forget about it. lol

She's saying if Strong goes, so does her son. She thinks Strong is capable of getting the program turned around and he's the kind of man/coach that she wants her son to play for.

Basically, if our University lets Strong go. CW3 will be playing for the University of Washington.

I didn't know you posted this. 

Just look at the juniors and seniors listed. Yet, people want to tell me we have talent. There's not much outside of the young guys.

If he loses the rest of his games in TCU fashion - then he won't be back.  But we don't have anymore games against TCU, so I'm not particularly worried.  The Longhorns have played the second toughest schedule in the NCAA and have done it with a team that started 8 freshman.  They've played the #2, #10, #14, and #22 offenses in the NCAA.  They've played against one of the most veteran teams in college (Notre Dame), and two Heisman Trophy finalist QB's.  They've had absolutely no breaks, and they're doing it with a team devoid of any veteran talent or leadership.  Strong and especially Bedford were upfront about this all summer long - you don't win with Freshman, but they're the best players we've got.

These aren't excuses - but they are explanations for why Texas is 1-4 right now.

The upside to Charlie Strong is the same today as it was the day he was hired.  He is an excellent evaluator of talent (see his recruiting results at Louisville), has consistently fielded outstanding defenses, and is a coach who truly believes in developing these athletes into students and men.  And they (and I) believe he will win.

The onslaught of ranked opponents to start the season, most certainly did not help this young team and you are right the schedule does get easier for a bit. My concern is has the team lost any and all remaining confidence. While the schedule does get easier, it is not what I would call easy for this young team.

ou - Not feeling good about this one. Would love for the team to pull a huge surprising upset.

--- MOST NEEDED BREAK EVER ---

KState - We have a hard time beating them, when we are good.

Iowa State - We find out how far we have fallen. If this is a tough game or lose, we should be VERY concerned. We should beat them easily.

Kansas - See Iowa State, these should be confidence building games.

WVU - If we get back some confidence in the previous 2 games, this could be a good game and MAYBE a win. It could also be a blow out.

Texas Tech - This one scares me, If our secondary does not get measurably better (and they should) this could be a shootout and they have a lot of bullets.

Baylor - yeah, uhm yeah

There really is only two games that are close, not guaranteed, to being gimmes. Unless things change I would think winning 3 of those games are the most likely scenario. I think we CAN win 5 of those. It just depends on how charlie and staff pick up this team out of the burning embers.
