St. Augustine HS (New Orleans) TE Jamal Pettigrew update

Looks like the Longhorns will get a visit from 4-star LSU commit Jamal Pettigrew. We've provided updates on Pettigrew periodically and we've also mentioned how Big 12 teams were slow in recruiting him.  TCU offered, as did Texas (back on the recent Jr. Day).....

I caught up with Jamal briefly earlier this morning and he said he is looking forward to visiting Austin next month.  He didn't have a firm date nailed down yet but he did mention he talked to Texas TE Coach Jeff Traylor, who talked him into visiting the 40 Acres and explained how he would fit into the Texas offense.

Pettigrew has put on needed weight since last year.  He's up to 230 lbs. and every bit of 6-6.

It will be a challenge for Texas to flip him from his commitment to the Tigers, as LSU is a backyard school for him.

LOL!  He's not flipping, but stranger things have happened when a kid visits Austin.

Spoke with Jamal this afternoon and he tells me he's locked in for a July 18th visit to the 40 Acres.

Austin is a great city, and I think Jamal will love Strong and Traylor. Hope he makes the best decision for himself.
