**Running College Football Updates Thread**

I think the issue they will run into and have to overcome is that they helped put the deal together and then agreed to it. . . twice.

Now, it's only a problem because other conferences are doing better, which they always have.

Yep, they agreed to a contract that is no longer to their liking.

Not sure how all of this ends, but it seems unlikely fsu will get out of the ACC easily or cheaply.

This is the death knell of the ACC. The buyout/fine is prohibitive. Just like the Trump verdict in New York.

I'm not so sure the ACC wins. If you sign a document and you can't take it with you and the only way to view it is at the conference headquarters, there may be problems with it that they didn't want to have people study. I've read a lot of legal docs in my time, they can say different things to different people. That's why we have courts.

Seems like Mike Leach had a contract with sand aggy. He thought it would get paid if he met the criteria in the contract. sand aggy said "not so fast my friend." sand aggy won in court. Both of the colleges trying to get out of the ACC are state schools. If all else fails, they may fall back to 'sovereign immunity'.

The Leach thing was messed up, but the issue there was sovereign immunity, which prevented him from sueing the state run university. So he never got a real chance in court to determine if the contract was violated.

Only time will tell how this plays out, but there are no sovereign immunity issues. Also the fact that TX and ou stuck around in the BIG12 without any talk about a lawsuit tells me that the GOR contracts aren't easy to get out of.

If they left the ACC, didn't pay, and said we own our rights, would the conference have to sue to enforce the contract?

I would guess there are provisions for that in the contract. The whole point of the GOR is to lock teams in. I don't know all the details, but my understanding is that it does a good
Job of accomplishing that goal.

Another issue for fsu is that no conference is going to accept them when they haven't established that they actually own their media rights.

Sand aggy got the lawsuit dismissed on the sovereign immunity you mentioned.

Still think there's a pretty good shot Deion leaves Colorado after next season.

I think it's obvious at this point he doesn't like to recruit.

We are telling off on our age or at least I am. Yes, there was a Wink Martindale who was a game show host, but a different Wink Martindale who coaches at Michigan.
He was probably named after the game show host, lol. Remember how seriously this stuff was back then. lol
