**Running College Football Updates Thread**

Initially, they were not going to fire Fitz because he wasn't aware or they couldn't prove he was aware.

Then they backtracked and decided that as HC, what happens under your umbrella is your responsibility regardless of whether you knew or not.

I tend to agree with that.
"The investigation team did not discover sufficient evidence to believe that coaching staff knew about the ongoing hazing conduct. They determined, however, that there had been significant opportunities to discover and report the hazing conduct."

From NWs executive summary at the time of the 2 week suspension.

I'm not sure what the language used there is implying but it does sound a bit like at best, Fitz went Ostrich with head in the sand mode.

Either way, at that time the fact that admin chose a 2 week suspension feels totally insufficient. I think they are as much in the wrong as Fitz or anyone else who was involved.

Some of the most detailed information regarding what is in the investigation report straight from the university president.

11 current or former players who stated that the hazing had occurred.

The hazing involved nudity, sexualized acts and forced participation

The hazing was widespread and well known within the football program. Clearly not a secret and Fitz had many opportunities to learn what was happening.

This is all matching up with what was reported by the whistleblower in the news article. The one part that is still unclear is if Fitz did actually know about it.

I guess Illinois doesn't have the same Sovereign immunity laws that Texas has. Be interesting if they reach some kind of settlement.
