**Running College Football Updates Thread**

Oh I think this is exactly where this is headed. 3 conferences of 24 or so. I think in time the schools in those conferences break away from the ncaa and do their own thing. I see the major college sports platform looking completely different in 10 or so years.
I think we'll see a break-up of the mega conferences at some point. Teams like USC and Oregon will end up as just a fish in a very large pond. Right now, it's all about the money. But when they end up in the furniture bowl every year, this super conference thing won't look like such a swell idea.

Its a lot easier to get lost in a large crowd as opposed to leading a smaller crowd.

Remember when the b12 was going to implode and everyone was looking for a landing spot?

I don't know how it happened, but the b12 is now the 3rd most stable conference. The ACC still has better teams as of 2024, but how much longer will they last? If fsu leaves, the wheels come off.
Can’t help but think that if the b12 has been this proactive 5 years ago they would still have their two marque schools Texas and ou. Could have been a serious threat to the SEC and Big10 then. Imo.

From Oregon to New Jersey, it is roughly 3,000 miles, thats 6,000 miles there and back. I don't know if they'd have to stop between somewhere to refuel or layover, but it just seems all that money will get eaten up pretty fast. Thats your team, its equipment, your band and its equipment, staffing and their supplies, etc.

The numbers I heard last night were that the Pac schools will get $8 million each more than they would've if they had stayed. I can see that $8 million disappearing over each year.

You can thank Bowlsby. He was just too timid to pursue the unknown.

Right now, they're saying the Big 12 is now the #3 conference. Thats just based on financials. I see the ACC as a far more powerful conference with regard to the caliber of teams they have as opposed to the Big 12. There is no Clemson in the Big 12. No North Carolina, FSU or Miami.

I’m sure I’m crotical, but I don’t see any real marque school in the big 12 after this year.

Like A&M never having played Georgia in the decade plus they've been in the SEC.
First that's wrong. aggy played @ Georgia in 2019. Georgia has not played @aggy since aggy joined,  which is almost as ridiculous.

The former SEC schedule sucked. Two 7 game divisions, with one protected cross division game implies you play 6 teams in the other division every 6 years.

I believe Texas didn't want to add more teams that would reduce the per team payout.

The last 4 teams weren't even in play 5 years ago, and with the exception of BYU the other teams they added would have increased the per team payout gap between the BIG12 and the big 2.

Because none of the schools considered for expansion would have really contributed much in financial value. They were destined to be feeding off the UT/ou tit.

I stand corrected.

I missed 2019 for some reason.
