Who: Texas Longhorns 3-4 (2-2) Vs. Kansas State Wildcats 5-1 (3-0)
When: Saturday October 25, 2014, 11:00AM
Where: Bill Snyder Family Stadium, Manhattan, KS.
Odds: Kansas State -10
The Good: K-State has continued it's usual brand of competitive football under the ageless Bill Snyder. The Wildcats currently sit in first place in the Big XII rankings after defeating Oklahoma 31-30 last week. Jake Waters has found his feet this season and leads the Wildcats in both passing and rushing. Longhorn fans will remember the name Tyler Lockett who returns as Kansas State's deep threat on offense. On defense K-State has had its struggles in spots (including giving up over 500 total yards to Oklahoma), but have kept opponents out of the end zone and are averaging 22 points against per game. Their lone loss of the season came against a highly ranked Auburn team in a close game in which special teams blunders cost the Wildcats.
The Bad: As mentioned above it's mainly the kicking game. Jack Cantele started the season making just 50% of his field goals and coach Snyder has had to shuffle his rotation trying to find another solution at that position. Kansas State has also had some trouble getting productions from its backs in the running game, though they have been able to find success inside the red zone.
The Uncertain: Kansas State is coming off of a big win against a reeling Oklahoma team and will see a Longhorn team with confidence on the rise coming into Manhattan where they haven't played well historically. Charlie Strong is still searching for that big time signature win and this game could be it if things break right for the Horns.
What's at Stake: The conference race is now a little more wide open and both teams are going to try and take advantage of that. Kansas State currently sits in the lead and wants to continue to put distance between it and the other Big XII teams. Texas is trying to get back into the conference race while also attempting to stack more wins and build on the current momentum. Personally Texas would also like a win to exorcise some demons that have haunted this program in Manhattan.
