Private jet on way back to Louisville

People can't say why they don't like hire, besides disorganized claim. Lol like I've been saying no real football understanding. If I don't like something I'm gonna tell you why and show examples

People living in the 1960s are fractured. Ill leave it at that.
Come on now.....I got married in 1964 and still married to her........Match that

Seriously, if you can't take people having opinions then you shouldn't be posting. A bunch of company robots around here.
Like your opinion that saban was ever an option

I wouldn't bother djohn. Some of these folks are already so far up Strongs butt you won't be able to reason with them.
How can you say if this hire is good or bad if he hasn't played a game yet? That's what I don't get. Again, maybe a top coach didn't want to come here. Is that so hard to believe? We got a lot of baggage right now with BMD's and bitter ex-coaches, etc... Our national perception isn't as great as Texas fans believe. We need a dose of reality.

Your post is my point exactly. People are allowed to have opinions. You can be the stepford wives if you want to, but not me.

This is lost on some people. It's sad how much Mack poisoned this deal

LOL.

Its not everyone, but that group is out on the net, and its disgusting.

People could handle a top coach not named Saban. Not this hire.
Show me where people aren't "handling" this hire? Are you talking about the 10-15% of people on this message board? You think that speaks for the entire fanbase? In perusing 3-4 UT message boards, I'd estimate roughly 85% of our fanbase is happy/excited about Strong.

All media outlets are calling is a fantastic hire. Every talking head LOVES this hire. Hell, even Finebaum said we hit a homerun and Strong will change the UT culture.

So where exactly are these people who aren't handling this hire? And WHY exactly aren't "those people" handling this hire?

Seriously, it's the non stop rhetoric on every thread that gets old...you included.

I get so sick of everything being about race. I don't care if Strong is the second coming of Bin Laden if he can recruit and win football games within the rules of the NCAA then he will get the accolades he deserves from UT, the BMDs, the alumni and the sports world.

Wrong. He hasn't done anything to the fan base because he hasn't officially accepted anything. If anything, the BMD's fractured the fan base.
Yeah - maybe the fracture is from this (Crossfire 01/01):

Camp 1, Has always stuck with stuck with Saban to Texas. These guys have never waffled.

Camp 2, Not at all happy with coaching change. You can only imagine who heads up this camp?

Camp 3, Fisher, Strong , Briles

Camp 4, Saban, Fisher, Strong, Briles

Starting to sound like 1997 again.

First, let me say that I was a Saban fan. Upon reflection, he lost the Auburn game because he failed to have any speed guys on the field during the field goal attempt. Second, he thought that he could play the passing game with a B12 team. AJ's two interceptions resulted in the margin of Bama's lose. Nick seemed to forget that in the B12 we actually play pass defense. Does anyone doubt that if the Longhorns could run through the okies like sauce through a goose, that Bama would have killed them if they hadn't given up on their running game? Thus, when all is said and done, mighty Alabama is on a two game losing streak. Yet, I still wanted Saint Nick. Now, it appears that we're getting Charlie Strong. I have no problem with that. What I do have a problem with is Patterson not negotiating the matter of assistant coaches with Charlie prior to making the offer. I wonder how Power's feels about bringing Hurtt onto the Forty Acres, when he felt that Saban would befoul our sacred soil.

I agree but some are making it hard for him to get in the door. It's hard to achieve that if the high ups at your University don't support you.

Reading these boards I'm a little reminded of a quote by Dr Wayne Dyer "the height of ignorance in making a decision about something you know nothing about" So many want to pass judgement on this hire and yet everything I'm hearing elsewhere is this is a cultural change for Texas(check), defensive genius(check), x's and o's coach(check), great age(check), WANTED to come here and coach(check)! Did I miss something?

I think what's missing is a grasp of the widespread coaching lineup.
Why is any program different/better/transcendent over any other?

What are the things that differentiate any coach over or under another? Or program?

Are our senses for measuring all that all screwed up?

Picture...

Briles at Baylor

Patterson at TCU

Stoops at OU

Gundy at Ok-State

Saban at Alabama

Malzahn at Auburn

Miles at LSU

Fisher at Fl-State

Sumlin at A&M

Couple of questions...

1. How many of those would trade straight-up for Charlie Strong right this minute?

Just wave the wand and you divorce and remarry and have Charlie Strong bringing everything we assume he can bring to Texas.

2. What makes any of these coaching assignments any better or different than... not just each other... but Charlie Strong at Texas?

Because if (a) none of these would trade for Charlie, then why are we so excited about hiring Charlie?

and ( B) If Charlie doesn't make this hire any more special than any of those listed...

...then we should at least stop the strange perception that somehow this Texas job is the cat's ass job in the land.

It's not. It's just another job. Another coaching job. Or, maybe it can be something special.

But I think we've been measuring everything on several wrong-headed basis for measuring the job. And the coaching position. If we've sorting hires the way we have been.

I'm okay with Charlie Strong, but then I'm okay with about 20 other coaches.

If you want to make this job really special, then do something really special. Go nuts and get out of the box and quit chasing somebody else's mate.

Go out and hire your own coach not somebody else's. And I think a Coordinator today is every bit as qualified as a coach with a few seasons experience as was the case with DKR in 1956.

Hire Chad Morris and make your own way. Joseph Campbell said it this way: "The Hero is somebody who goes into the forest where there are no trails... and makes his own."

We've screwed this whole thing up not acting like the real Texas spirit that built this "whole other country" and the University of the First Class.

But if we want to pursue Charlie Strong, then I'd prefer we step back and quit making the hire such a big deal. We just forced a divorce somewhere else and took another family's head of the household. And based it all on a round-robin mess of circular arguments and perceptions. Which leads to nothing logical and leads nowhere in particular and everywhere in general.

Hiring an up-and-coming assistant would have at least flattened all this other talk, and I think would be more adventuresome and exhilarating.

I think Chad Morris is going to make a lot of programs envious one of the days in the not too distant future. The winner will be the program that took a nudge and had a vision, and a spirit of adventure.
...dude, i love your post. always very smart...
