TEXAS – WEST VIRGINIA SERIES INFO

  • Texas leads the all-time series, 6-3.
  • In the last meeting between the two teams, Texas won 77-50 (Jan. 17, 2015 in Austin).
  • The Horns have beat WVU four consecutive times, all by double-digit margins. UT owns an 18.0 point scoring margin in those games.
TEXAS NOTES

  • Kendal Yancy set career highs in points (29), field goals (9-of-17), three-pointers (6-of-9) and free throws (5-of-6) during Saturday's loss to ISU. Yancy is averaging 21.5 ppg and 5.5 rpg over the last two games.
  • Isaiah Taylor tied his season high in points (23), field goals (8-of-18) and three-pointers (2-of-3) against ISU. He topped the 20-point mark for the third time this year.
  • Against the Cyclones, Myles Turner reached double figures in rebounds (10). It was Turner’s third straight game with double figure rebounds.
  • The Texas defense held its first 27 opponents to an average of 60.1 ppg on a combined 36.4% shooting, which includes a 33.9% mark from three-point range. Texas ranks 4th nationally in field goal percentage defense (.364).
WEST VIRGINIA NOTES

  • West Virginia is shooting 33.2% in its last four games against Texas, including 27.3% from three point range.
  • Last week Guard Juwan Staten had back-to-back 20-point performances (KU and OSU) to earn Big 12 player of the week honors. Staten averages 14.8 ppg and 4.5 apg.
  • Sophomore forward Devin Williams averages double digit scoring with 10.9 ppg, but he has not scored double figures since February 7.
  • Seven WVU players average at least 6.0 ppg.







 
  • The Horns have beaten WVU four consecutive times, all by double-digit margins. UT owns an 18.0 point scoring margin in those games.
Judging from past experience, this game comes at a much-needed juncture.

I don't expect it to come easily tonight - Huggins was bristling during post-game in Austin. I am confident he'll remind the team what happened.
