Predictions on next three recruits.....

I can't blame highly-rated recruits for taking all five visits.  Why not?  How can you make an informed decision if you don't experience what other universities have to offer?

The only reason to commit early is if you fear losing a spot to another recruit.  A guy like Malik Jefferson doesn't have to worry about that.

Plus, if you have the ability to call your shot or have schools lined up for you - why not? You get to do this once in your life if at all. Do it. Use all five visits and see what you want to see.

BTW, that's a great thread idea.

Besides, what is better than a recruiting trip?  You get to see the country, you are wined and dined to a fare-thee-well, you get to party on end and you are shown around by beautiful girls.  What teenager would want to pass that up?

First off, there are 3 guys that would commit immediately if offered, but won't be for a while:

Tyler Moore OL

Erik McCoy OL

Josh Uluocha DT

Now, I think one of the next 3 commits will be class of '16.

So my predictions is:

Louis Brown

Shea Patterson

Du'Vonta Lampkin
I understand the Tyler Moore has been offered a scolly.

...a teenager that was raised with a bit of integrity vs humility.  trust me, good doc.. not every prospective recruit / teenager needs to become a non credible "recruitment diva" just to make up their mind's upon which institution of higher learning that they shall attend.  still don't believe me.. try placing a call to jerrod heard...

Taking a recruiting trip has nothing to do with integrity or morality.  It's a legitimate recruiting trip and it is fun for most recruits.  Particularly for those back water or inner city kids that have never seen the world.

This is just the side benefit to seeing what other schools have to offer.  It is a privilege that very few kids get to experience.

So why not?  Wouldn't you do it if it was you?

upon my most current point of view, no doc, i would not.  please bare in mind, my good pal.. that it is this exact "privilege" that so many of our recruits seem to end up abusing for the most part.  and upon the end..  leaves them discombobulated with their credibility at stake.  which in turn.. creates a mockery of their recruitment.

doc, as a small boy growing up in the suburbs of beaumont, tx.  i longed for the very opportunity to be able someday to venture forth to austin, tx.. and become a student as per the university of texas.  that dream of mine never ever materialized.  therefore, i went through classes at the university of houston, and ended up graduating at texas southern university.  today, i shall gladly take my hat off to anyone that has shared the foremost privilege of attending / graduating from UT.  upon my view, there is just no greater privilege as per any young texan.

this is the reason why i am so very proud of young recruits such as jerrod heard.  this particular athlete, didn't have to "go around the world in eighty days" or so to speak.  he knew just what institution of higher learning that he wanted to attend.. and against all the forms of various influences, from many many schools.. he held true to his convictions as per UT.  and thank god that he did.. for now, he stands poised for greatness, as a quarterback for TEXAS.

trust me doc, it would be incredibly unseemly for me to harbor a problem for young recruits to seek adventure, intellect / knowledge, and offerings from prospective schools.  i am a big boy, and i am highly accustomed to the recruitment game.  but just as the OP of this thread has become a bit disgusted as per the current / shocking recruitment process.. well so have i.  for if the recruitment process continues to head down this particular destructive path.. then the kids shall indeed become the ultimate losers.

Perhaps I have misunderstood you or we are talking cross purposes here.

Maybe you are talking about the recruit that has already decided what college he will attend.  I assume you think there is no need for him to take his official 5 visits if so.  I could argue about this as well, but there is something to be said about ending his recruitment, if so.

All this being said, we should remember that we are talking, basically, about children. I cannot pass judgment on their ethics or morality when they simply want to experience the recruiting process.  Some kids totally enjoy this and some don't.    Either way is okay with me as long as they don't abuse the privilege.  And to me, making legitimate offical trips is not abuse.

Heard appears to be a young man that knew what he wanted and was ready to end the recruiting process.  He is rather unique, however, as he had been recruited since the 8th grade.  Most of these kids have not gone through this.

To give you a better handle on this, I have a grandson that plays baseball.  He is a  6' 14 year old and is a pitcher that throws 85mph already.  He is just a jr. high kid, but is already being monitored by a couple of colleges.  I consider this ridiculous and can see how he could be burned out with recruiting by the time he is eligible. But some kids develop later in their lives and are thrilled with the recruiting hoopla.
