I went to bed rather early for me last night due to having to be up at 3:15 for a 5 AM flight. I get up and turn the coffee on then the TV. That is when I started hearing about the shootings in Las Vegas.
I’ve since had some discussions with some of my business associates in Las Vegas. My main contact there was supposed to go to the concert last night with her husband, but they opted out last minute because of their kids’ activities. She has several friends in the hospital with gunshot wounds. Additionally, one industry associate lost his daughter in this tragedy.
I don’t want to focus on the dead coward of a shooter, but this was completely senseless. Hard to wrap your hands around something like this. I’ve stayed at the Mandalay, do quite a bit of business in that corridor of hotels/casinos and have been in that venue where these folks lost their lives. It’s similar to the Tower shooting from years ago.
My son has tickets to ACL coming up and as a parent, it concerns me. I’ve told him to be more aware of his surroundings and to keep an eye out for possible escape routes and where to take cover.
Kudos to the Las Vegas first responders, not only law enforcement and medical, but the citizens that helped the wounded and assisted in getting people to take cover. They appear to have helped limit further damage.
I know I’m a Little all-over-the-place with this, but it is hard not to be.
