Observations From The Baylor Win (Running Thread)

Yesterday was a family day for me so I am just now taking in the game in its entirety. I’m going to hit some of the things that stood out to me. 

I’m going to do this with a running thread since my laptop is acting up. Feel free to weigh in if you like.

Texas defense set the tone early with a DeShon Elliott pick six. He’s always in the right place at the right time. 

Smith’s decision to try to squeeze that ball in there is questionable, as there were three Texas defenders in close proximity.

Kris Boyd hit with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the second drive. 

All I can do is shake my head. Gotta play smarter.

Bonney comes off the edge as a free runner. Doesn’t get the sack, but Malik cleans it up to finish the play.

Looks like Todd Orlando deployed that 3-2-6 dime package again that was very successful last week against Oklahoma State. I imagine we will see plenty of that given the teams left on the schedule.

Offense up for the first time. Oh look an Armanti Foreman sighting. Minimal gain.

Little wrinkle with the wildcatc package with Carter. Loss of 5.

Followed up by a sack. Drive derailed by back to back negative plays.

Not much doing for the offense early on. 

This defense, man. Holton Hill with the strip of Williams. Have yourself a year, Holton.

Immediately a false start after the turnover. 

Disappointing series once again offensively with a very short field. Only bright spot is Daniel Young. More carries please. 

And the kick gets blocked. Welp.

I hate how they are fast forwarding thru parts of the game and I’m missing defensive snaps.

Another John Burt sighting? Is he finally turning it around? 

Here’s where not having a reliable kicker bites you. Texas stopped short on 4th and 2. Baylor takes over.

QB carousel for Baylor. I recall someone here wanting to beat up the staff for not going after Anu Solomon and it looks like he has been passed up by Charlie Brewer.

Holton Hill made a nice tackle on Ebner on the screen, but he definitely looked concussed afterwards. Dang it.

That’s personal foul number two for Kris Boyd in the first half. I’ve got nothing. 

Shouldn’t he be disqualified after his second one?

I think one was an unsportsmanlike conduct and one was personal foul. DQ for 2 unsportsmanlike is the rule I believe?

Best drive of the day by the offense so far. Buechele getting the ball out quickly and they look in sync. 

Some trickery with the halfback pass from Warren. Joe was barely OB. Good call and execution. 

Come right back with a sprint out and hit Humphrey right on the money for 6. 

Great drive.
