Horseshit. People like Pat Forde and others have been writing about how they questioned if he could handle the media, etc at Texas

Strong may not think the media is super important, or want to be Mack Brown on that stage... but he just hit a grand slam in front of a packed house at the press conf.

I missed that criticism, but yeah, they're dumb. He was a little nervous at first, but found his voice and killed it. That was an excellent presser.

He does not mince words like Jay Carney in White House briefings. This... today.. what we saw , is what real people talking reality are all about. Strong (sic!). In the center of their game. Live it, walk it... not just talk it. It was the most normal real dialog I've seen in a long long time. (I gave the example of politics because I'm a geopolitcal researcher and have to follow current events and can smell nonsense a country mile away... just the prime example I can think of).

YES you know he HIT A GRAND SLAM and He can Handle all of THE MEDIA and LHN.

Listening to Coach Strong, I have a great degree of confidence in him. I think he will shut up a lot of the "negative nellies" by the quality of the product (team) that he puts on the field. This man is extremely confident with no hint of arrogance or entitlement. COACH CHARLIE STRONG is the REAL DEAL!!!!

Mack may have been "good with the media" but Mack-speak used to make me sell off my possessions so I could buy some IV Zofran. Unlike a Mack presser, not once today did I want to puke. Mr. Strong is da man!

Mack had great delivery but I always felt like he must think I'm really stupid to believe what he is saying. Strong was not as clean but I believed every word he said.

This is what Charlie Strong was used to in Louisville by "intense" media coverage.

This is what Charlie Strong faced today.

I thought he handled that "intensity" of today pretty well but that had to be a little intimidating.

Hook'em!

Craig Way said it was the largest gathering of media he has ever seen at Texas for a presser in his years of covering Longhorn Athletics.

Coach did a great job! I don't think the media's going to be a problem and after watching the press conference I know that we'll never hear Charlie Strong tell us that any team "scares him to death"!!!

Great speaker? Nope. Don't give a rats @ss. I want a football coach and that's what we got.

Yes great job on the presser. But I almost wish he hadn't - I don't want this to lead to a million other media committments. There's much more important work to be done.

I could hear the fire in his voice when he said this WOULD be the State Capital of Texas for football. I then sacked the nearest person for a nine yard loss.

He sounds like a football coach not a politician. He has the fire that our team needs to possess. At the same time he did not make a fool of himself in front of a VERY large contingent of media.

I thought he did a wonderful job for his first press conference. I'm sure he was nervous. He probably saw more people at today's presser than he'd see in a season Louisville. It impressed me how direct he came across. If you're scoring at home, I'd give Chuck a solid A. FWIW
