National Signing Day 2016 Thread

I have always been a fan of Charlie Strong.  I hope he can win some games this year and continue to get the support from the administration and keep this momentum rolling.  He is building a monster.

As I listened to the commits talk about Charlie, the two words that I heard the most were straight-forward and honest.  During his presser those were my exact thoughts.  At times,  I thought he gave away too much of his strategies (although most are probably common) and overall approach to recruiting. After processing what he said it is plainly obvious that he is a genuine guy that works hard, sticks to his core values and is a man of great character.  I know this isn't old news, but again his presser and watching him interact with the players yesterday absolutely exemplified who he is and what he stands for.  I for one and proud to have him as our coach and a representative of the great University of Texas.  Gentlemen, we have us a good coach and a man of honor whose brightest days are ahead of him.  Success on the field this year and I can see him eclipsing what Mack accomplished here.  I know I'm coming off of a major high yesterday, but like to think I'm an optimist and a realist.

Thanks to all of you who contribute your insights, humor, rumor and all that it implies.  Special thanks to Juan.  Keep it up brother.  I don't know how you do it, but your efforts are appreciated.

It's always a great day to be a Longhorn!!

Hook'em
Preach, Big Daddy! I'm pulling for Charlie as hard as I can because I believe in who he is as a man and as a representative of our University. I want to win more than anybody, but also want kids to leave our program equipped to be great men, great fathers and great leaders. I think Charlie is as fine a role model for all three as there is in college football.

Hook 'em, OU still sucks and give an aggy a wedgie today.

Burton has high praise for Fitz --

- You guys know how much I like Fitzgerald. I sang his praises when he committed.  This is where I think he should be ranked (#4 player overall in our class).  I think of all of the defensive linemen, he's the one who is absolutely going to play next year in part because I know he can hold up somewhat against the run as an end.  He'll handle the run better from day one than just about every DE on campus.

Chip on the radio said the Austin Anderson and Riley Anderson committed to aggy the day after meeting with Wickline.

Alright guys, realistically speaking how many wins do you think this team gets this season?
I stated earlier I'm an optimist. We are more mature in the key areas on defense and now more talented. Our secondary and line backing core will be ready with backups. Our DL only lost one part time difference maker and I believe we landed at least two that will fill that gap. Our o line will be more experienced, deeper, and more talented than we've seen in 8-10 years. RB's ridiculous, The receivers will benefit from the new scheme and we have a plethora of potential play makers (say that three times fast)........QB Oh the dreaded Achilles heal of the Longhorn football program..... We have 5 guys with the ability to be very good quarterbacks. They each have positives and negatives. It seems like we don't have that one guy that checks every box needed (accuracy, athleticism, decision making, ect...) I firmly believe this new offense and QB coach will "miraculously" produce That Guy. We have an offensive identity and an OC that KNOWS how to work that offense. Watson spent last spring attempting to teach something he didn't know and honestly he didn't probably agree with changing the offense. We have a chance to be really good this fall. I only saw us lay down once last year (TCU), one game we severely underestimated the opponent (iowa St), and one game we flat weren't ready (ND). Flip the Cal, OK ST, and TT games (7 total pts) and we are an 8 win team. I am going to call 10 wins next year (regular season), final answer, lock it in, and throwing it in my face if I'm wrong. I'm not wishing I truly believe that will be the case. I say it's a disappointing season if we win less than 10. #webeatnerrbody

I agree 1000%!!! And I agree #webeatinerrbody LOL!

I only saw one of Ehlinger's games, which is not enough to make much of an assessment, but does he really have adequate arm strength. The throws I saw had a very high arc and seemed weak. Correct me if I'm wrong
Watch his HUDL is all I can recommend. Kid has a cannon. Some already think he'll be one of the best Quarterbacks to touch the 40.

Collin's dad mentioned him and his brother to me about five years ago, saying that both were starting to terrorize the state of California in youth football. Johnnie told me back then that he'd be shocked if either ended up anywhere but Austin. He is one proud papa.
Johnnie Johnson...I'll never forget his stop of Thomas Lott on 4th down late in the 4th quarter, with

Texas clinging to a lead in the 1977 OU game. It was incredibly dramatic...Texas hadn't beaten OU

since 1970. OU was whipping Texas every year with an offense they copied from Texas (the Wishbone)

and with the best blue chip running backs recruited from Texas high schools. I never remember a more

dramatic, badly needed victory! It was SO SWEET to finally beat Switzer and those OU bastards!

I'm so thankful I got to be there in the Cotton Bowl that day. Definitely one of my best UT memories.

I think it's great that Johnnie's sons are playing football at UT...I'm expecting big things from them!

No better bloodlines.....

Ehlinger has to be due for a 4th star soon.
Best QB in the state, and yes I know of Shawn Robinson.  He earned so much respect on twitter after breaking Allen's win streak.  Kid is a baller.

Now the bigger question is can 2017 bring a bigger stage of excitement than the 2016 season did

Here are a couple names that have come up in the recruiting thread in the past

Both looking at possibly going to Kilgore

Sealy ATH Christian Wallace (Ore St)

Houston Hightower DT Darius Anderson (NMSU)
