Ok, so this board seems a safe place to post a hypothetical without getting blasted. I don't mind disagreement...

If we didn't have the ability to get a Saban or Fisher (or Harbaugh, Shaw, or Malzahn), I would love to see us take a chance on Chad Morris. I feel like that guy is just a winner. To see what he did at Travis and then to see how well he is doing as an OC, makes me think he would do extremely well here at Texas if we were willing to shock everyone and go for a high risk candidate.

Doubt you'll get blasted.

The feeling by those in power is that Texas is too big of a job for someone to learn on the fly. They have let word out several times that they are only looking at coaches with head coaching experience and success. Of course, they DID promise the job to coach boom, who was only an assistant up to then, so who knows.

we'd have to get turned down by a whoooolllle lot of people before I'd take a chance on a coordinator with no HC experience.

Our members don't blast. That is why they are members here.

Morris needs to hone his skills before a school like Texas takes a look.

Could not have said it better. And I personally agree with this approach. I feel that USC settled with Sark; maybe in time I'll be proven wrong, but UW made out like a bandit with their hire of Peterson. Sark has not really had enough HC experience and definitely not enough success to take a top 5-9, (depending on your criteria,) college job like USC.
