#11/10 Texas (12-2, 1-0 Big 12) vs. #18/21 Oklahoma (10-3, 1-0 Big 12)

Monday, Jan. 5, 2015 - 8 p.m. Central

• The game will be televised nationally by ESPN.

• Oklahoma and Texas rank in the top three of the Big 12 in both field goal percentage defense and 3-point field goal percentage defense. Texas leads the Big 12 (ranks third nationally) by holding its opponents to .337 field goal shooting while OU ranks third in the league (12th nationally) with its .360 defensive mark. The Sooners rank second in the Big 12 (25th nationally) by limiting foes to a .280 3-point figure, while Texas ranks third in the league (39th) nationally with its .289 mark.

OKLAHOMA SERIES INFO:

• Oklahoma leads, 50-35. Last meeting: OU 77-65 (March 1, 2014; Norman).

• Monday's contest marks the 86th meeting between Texas and Oklahoma.

• The Sooners hold a 50-35 lead in the all-time series that dates back to a 59-26 OU victory in Norman on Feb. 25, 1910.

• The Horns have won seven of the last 10 meetings against Oklahoma, despite a two-game sweep by the Sooners last year.

• UT holds a 19-17 advantage in games played in Austin.

• Texas is 21-18 against Oklahoma during the Rick Barnes era.

TEXAS NOTES:

• Texas has won 16 of its last 17 home games.

• Texas recorded a +12 rebound margin (41-29) in Saturday's win at Texas Tech. The Horns have posted double-digit rebound margins in 11 of their first 14 contests this season and rank second nationally in rebound margin (through games of Jan. 3).

• Junior guard Javan Felix has reached double figures in scoring in each of the last four contests, averaging 15.3 ppg in the stretch. He has converted 21-of-41 (.512) field goals, including 9-of-23 (.391) from three-point range over the last four games. Felix had a game-high 15 points (5-of-10 FG, 3-of-6 threes) in 24 minutes off the bench in Saturday's victory at Texas Tech.

• Texas registered eight blocks in the win over Tech. UT has posted at least eight blocked shots in nine of its first 14 games.

• The Horns posted a 26-12 advantage in points off turnovers in Lubbock.

• UT went 25-of-34 (.735) from the free throw line against the Red Raiders. Texas converted 21-of-30 (.700) free throws in the second half (4-of-4 in fi rst half).

OKLAHOMA NOTES:

• Oklahoma's defense has been stellar all season, as no opponent has scored more than 69 points or shot 50 percent from the field. OU has held 12 of 13 opponents below their season average in points. On the year, the Sooners are holding opponents to 59.7 points a game and limiting them to .360 field goal and .280 3-point shooting. Through 13 games last year, opponents averaged 77.8 points on .417 field goal and .312 3-point shooting.

• The Sooners have outscored their opponents by 7.0 points per game off turnovers on the year (16.4-9.4). OU has outscored its foes off turnovers in each of the last six games (117-37 total during that stretch [19.5-6.2 per game]).

• OU has displayed a balanced scoring attack this season with its five starters averaging between 8.2 and 16.0 points per game. Six different players (Isaiah Cousins, Buddy Hield, Ryan Spangler, TaShawn Thomas, Dinjiyl Walker and Jordan Woodard) have led or co-led the team in scoring in the last eight outings. Each of OU's five starters has scored at least 20 points three or more times in their careers.

• The Sooners averaged 15.1 turnovers per game through the season's first eight contests. Over the last five games, however, they are averaging just 9.2 turnovers. OU has committed single-digit turnovers in four of the last five outings.

• OU returned 68 percent of its scoring, 70 percent of its rebounding and 73 percent of its assists from last season's team.

• Oklahoma has started the same five players every game this season.

• OU has wins over Baylor, Missouri, UCLA, and Butler.

• OU’s three losses are to Creighton, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Go Horns Go!

Watched us wear down Tech physically with our big boys and defense on Saturday. With improved guard play and outside shooting, we're gonna be trouble in the NCAA's!

Anybody know where Demarcus Croaker is transferring? I assume it's back to FL to be closer to his son. UCF makes the most sense.

It's an interesting matchup. Barnes better get out of the zone tonight. Texas should be able to abuse OU inside.

OU's two bigs: Spangler and Thomas are both 6'8. That's pretty much all OU has in terms of bigs.

Texas' bigs: Ridley 6'9, Turner 6'11, Ibeh 6'10, Holmes 6'8, and Lammert 6'9.

If we make this a bigs game, OU has no shot.

After Saturday's lineup shake-up, I'm hearing it'll be back to normal tonight.

This is a massively important game in the conference standings. It's imperative to hold serve on home floor.

It wouldn't surprise me. Barnes was just sending a message IMO.

Don't underestimate OU. They may not be big on the inside, but they can hurt you if they got hot on the perimeter.

Completely agree. OU is a very good team. If we don't make this a bigs game we will lose. You aren't going to beat OU in a guard centric type game.
