[SIZE=14pt]AUSTIN, Texas[/SIZE][SIZE=14pt] – A pair of high school basketball standouts have signed National Letters of Intent to play basketball next season at The University of Texas, head coach Rick Barnes announced Wednesday[/SIZE]. Eric Davis (Saginaw, Mich.) and Kerwin Roach (Houston, Texas) will join the Longhorns for the 2015-16 season.
[SIZE=14pt]“Our entire staff is pleased to welcome both Eric and Kerwin into our program,†Barnes said. “We wanted to add to our overall skill level and playmaking in the backcourt, and we needed to add length and athleticism to our backcourt. We also wanted to improve our perimeter scoring and shooting. And we needed to make sure we found individuals with high character, toughness and confidence. We accomplished all of those with the additions of Eric and Kerwin.â€[/SIZE]
[SIZE=14pt]Davis (6-3, 172), a guard from Saginaw Arthur Hill High School who plays under head coach Greg McMath, is ranked as the No. 41 overall prospect in the nation by ESPN, No. 42 by 247Sports and No. 53 by Rivals.com. He averaged 27 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals per game in his junior season while leading Arthur Hill to the Saginaw Valley League championship. He earned Michigan Class A Player of the Year honors as a junior. Davis claimed all-state honors as a sophomore and was the first freshman to start for McMath in progam history.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=14pt]Roach (6-3, 160), a guard from Houston’s North Shore High School who plays under head coach David Green, is ranked as the No. 35 overall prospect in the nation by Rivals.com and No. 71 by 247Sports. He averaged a team-best 16.1 points per game as a junior while leading North Shore to a 33-3 overall record and the Class 5A state title. Roach also claimed a 5A state championship in the triple jump last May in Austin.[/SIZE]

What excites me about the past two classes are Barnett and Davis. Though two can just flat out score. We haven't had a scoring threat like those two on campus in some time. I'm more excited about Davis than Myles Turner, that's how good of a player I think he is.

They beat Michigan State on the road a couple weeks ago too. The funny thing is Texas Southern is being paid to play these games. Kansas State is pretty average this year though, I expected them to be better (they did put a beat down on the aggies).

The weirdest thing is that Texas Southern team has been atrocious the entire year. They are 3-9 with losses to Norfolk State and Eastern Washington. Surely they had players suspended or something at the beginning of the season.
