Mack Track

In or en route to Florida
Visiting with Delvin Cook. It makes no sense. If he knew he was about to step down why waste your time and energy to make a trip.. Go home and chill.. Starting to get worried.

Mack is better off being gone a couple days while the posse is either in town....or on it's way.

I thought he was leaving New York and going to Florida for his in home with Andrew Beck.

you cant just start cancelling recruiting trips and leave things hanging out on the trail until you are no longer employed. I would imagine Texas (like any school) would have him working till the end

If this is Mack's last year and he knows it, he still has to do his job on recruits and other stuff to make it seem like nothing is going to happen to him. People like us will put things together and figure it out. They want us on the edge of our seats waiting for the moment when they announce Mack Brown is stepping down and then they will show Saban with his Horns Up. Until then this is what we have.... wasn't it reported that Saban could not pursue recruits unless the other school had already been recruting them? maybe they are just making visits to recruits to get them on the radar for next coach?

If Mack has been informed he is being relieved of duties and he still wants to coach his visiting recruits does seem a bit odd though possible if he is truly doing his job until the end. This is what most of us do in our careers when we change positions. However, if he is being relieved but moved to another position within the AD (which is what my hope has been all along given what he has done for the University) his visiting recruits makes sense. For the most part all I have seen over 16 years has led me to believe Mack is a good man and can be of benefit to the AD if he wants to be. While his talent evaluation skills leave a lot to be desired, noone can argue the man is a masterful recruiter. I can see him being a special counsel to the department and have no problem with that as long as he does not retain any decision making powers.

Part of me likes to think of a world where Mack is kept on as a goodwill ambassador for recruiting purposes and has a desk at the LHN. But the part of me that likes to see a lot of success on the football field thinks that that is a bad situation with a new coach coming in where the former coach of 16 years is still standing in the corner. I could be wrong.
