I am thinking of a new career but can stay in the same field of work. I have been doing remodeling for several years.

Texaspride73...I help people who are in career transition and are interested in exploring self-employment options such as franchise; business opportunities (“biz-ops”) and low-cost-of-entry home-based business ownership...

Please call, or email me, if I can ever be of any assistance to you...

Jeff,

I've got a big project coming up next week in Austin if you're interested in joining us. It's a drainage project, plus redoing a section of the driveway (concrete). Shoot me an email if you're interested. We'll be down there all week starting Tuesday morning. It's near the pizza place off Mopac/Northland where you and I have met before.

I have been out of the work force for sometime (retired). It kills me to see our good jobs going to China and other countries because of the cheap pay we could not live on in America. You business men and women what is it going to take to keep those jobs in America.

I was a plant operator in utilities (Calpine) and blessed with a good job. I sure don't like seeing our young people having hardships finding work they can support there family on and have that piece of the American dream.

It wont come easy and like me some of you older guys can testify that you will have to pay your dues and work your ass off to get that piece of the American dream. I know that some young people think that when they come out of collage it will be waiting on them my kids sure did and it was a good learning lesson for them. Young people sure have a lot more stuff than Deb and I had. We didn't get our first new car till we had been married for 5 years and our first new home came after we had been married 10 years. Work hard and the dream will be yours I can promise you that your hard work will be rewarded. My friends y'all have a great day.

What's it going to take? A complete reversal from the direction it's heading right now. We're entitled, too entitled to get our hands dirty and freak out the first time a stream of sweat rolls down our forehead. We've programmed our society to think manual labor is beneath us - something for other people to do.

We're moving toward a dependency crisis in America. We depend on China to keep sending money. We depend on China to make our goods. We rely on Mexicans to build our buildings and roads. We depend on the school, the police and the government to deal with our kids so we don't have to. We have been taken from a society where independence is something to cherish to a position of dependence being the objective.

And we have a leader who's floored the accelerator with it all.

A friend of mine in Austin was looking for a landscaper. I sent her your email. Hopefully they will contact you soon!

I keep hopping that at some point America will wake up and and change Congress with new younger men and women. What get me is people talk about jobs Americans wont work. I worked those jobs cutting my teeth as a Iron Worker for 20 years. Building highrise buildings and foundation for those buildings. I worked on some of the biggest buildings in Houston. I also built the foundations that those big buildings stood on. They would start 2 stories are more in the ground on something called pan slabs. Nasty dirty jobs at the end of the day you was covered in oil that was sprayed on the pans and slat from all the sweat it covered you from your shoulders to your knees. Then everything changed they started hiring the people coming across the border. American Companies found that they would work for much less than we would work for. That was the end of working construction for most Americans. Our wages were cut and it just continued and our health care soon followed our pay become sub standard. Guys don't pile on to bad it just something my generation of workers had to deal with. My friends y'all have a great week

Thank you very much, I really appreciate that!

It's a long and complex story how it came to this, but from my view (the writer I work for is long-time friend of Ron Paul, so do the math) Johnson's Great Society followed by Nixon's secret hour late one Sunday going off the gold standard, and decades of federal regulations, plus Fed's role in expanding monetary base... pretty soon you no longer have a free economy with the driving forces that separated this nation from all others, and made immigrants from all over want to come here since the 19th century. Progressive liberals (spelled Obama, among others) wish to destroy the old way even more. But history has proven Big Government (socialism) does not work.

There is no such thing as a free lunch. You can't get something for nothing. And so on. As I have come to understand it, the Fed did not rescue the Depression, it caused it. It did not allow a correction. And it's been going on ever since. As I said, long and complex story. But at the heart of of it all, it is the federal gov't that has caused the weak dollar and substandard economic growth. It's never the solution, it's always the problem. But if most want to crash and go broke proving otherwise... just keep worshipping what Obama is preaching, and what naive people are promoting. A free enterprise economy proved it can work. Why turn things upside down to destroy it?

My answer: Austrian Economics (Mises Institute, etc.) I may not live long enough to see it instituted, so I'll just reincarnate and check it out later on. Maybe come back and help put things together!!

I think we got here purely from the 'global economic model'. Its always been a goal of companies to save costs, and workers are simply cheaper in lesser economies. We've also gone to a share holder system where shareholders have a huge say and a more short-term outlook on their investment. Those investors only care about profit and share price. This will eventually come to a head as it becomes to expensive to outsource and there aren't enough consumers to buy the products that keep the share prices high and actual goods and services sold. The biggest hurdle at that point will be technology as the ultimate cheap and better labor. Will companies move jobs to more people facing jobs in time for the population as less technical(technology taking a larger share) and professional jobs(divided into tasks by lesser paid employees) are needed?
