Good come back.

I love Sark, but imho, it's dumb for Satk to make this comment, or his comment about Ole Miss.

True or not, there is absolutely no benefit to statements like that. He just gave Ole miss and all big12 teams some extra hate and motivation when we play them.
Dont forget helping all of the college/national sports media heads hit their offseason social media engagement quotas by the end of May.

Bc thats all that matters now, no matter if theres truth to it or not. Bc thats the world we live in now...sigh

I don't think we play any Big 12 teams and I don't expect we'll see any in the playoffs. They never make it past the first round.

I agree under normal circumstances, it was dumb for Sark to name Ole Miss. Sark did not name Tech in his post. Tech is only pissed because they know exactly who Sark was talking about. Most see that as guilt talking.

Thing is though, this is a critical time for CFB. We've got major high-level problems and Congress doesn't seem interested in helping. NCAA keeps getting kicked around in court. These are desperate times.

I can relate to Sark in this instance. If you don't love college football enough to point out the wrong and how fast it's dropping into oblivion, then you have done CFB a huge disservice. Sark is being a leader here. He's telling the world this is out of control. As they say, the squeeky wheel always gets the grease.

I don't know how long before we play a BIG12 team, but the playoffs can be unpredictable (2 seasons ago we played Arizona State in the playoffs). Also I wouldn't be surprised if we schedule a BIG12 team as an OOC opponent at some point.

After I posted my comment, I saw the entire statement and an article that speculated that the statement was directed at the playoffs decision makers.

I don’t have a strong opinion on how many teams should be in the playoffs, but suspect they will go to 24 teams(generates more money and more schools can get a playoff participation trophy).

On the plus side of a 24 team field, the playoffs selection committee would be less likely to eliminate a team with a legitimate shot at winning. On the negative side, 24 teams makes the regular season less meaningful.

You're exactly right. It waters down the regular season and reduces the value of a conference affiliation.

IMO, 24 teams is just greed talking. We don't need 24 teams in a playoff. There aren't 24 teams, in any given year, capable of winning the national championship.

Greed and money kills a lot of things, as we're witnessing right now. At some point, you have to wonder why you even have a regular season. Why not just go right to the playoffs?

I'm very thankful to Sankey for holding the line at 12. Anything more is just greed, not necessary, and is detrimental to the game itself.

FYI, ou got upset on their home field.

Historically the gulf between number one and even number five is enormous. Sometimes a team gets better and better over a season (Texas last year).... But to think tteam 12 has any chance at all is ludicrus....what do teams 13 through 24 think they are doing there other than getting a participation trophy?

College football can be unpredictable., and some teams improve as the season progresses, while others don't.

The obvious case was Texas last year. We didn't mske the 12 team playoffs, yet IMHO we would have had a legitimate shot, had we been included in the field.

An that's my problem with the playoff committee--they don't look at how strong the team is at the end of the season, they only look at the record. You are penalized for every game you lose, no matter who you play, and on the flip side, you are rewarded for every win, no matter who you play.

I'm afraid that with Miami at the #10 ranked team last year getting to the finals is going to push for at least 4 more teams to join the playoffs for a 16 tam format.

4 teams was good. Maybe 8 teams could be better, if you pick the right teams. But 12, so far hasn't proven anything but greed.
