SignUp Now!Once you purchase a kitchen aide the site returns to normal😎. I hope this clears up soon for you, I appreciate your input on the site.I now get a kitchen ad that fills both sides of the screen and I cant get rid of it and I can no longer read the topics or threads....what can I do?
This is some really solid advice. Step-by-step. I like it. Great post BudreauOldhorn, I responded to you in your other thread regarding popup ads, but it sounds to me that your computer may need a good scrubbing. I am not a computer professional by any means, but before I retired, most of the architectural firms I worked for would not contract for professional computer services, so those onerous duties usually fell to me. I have developed a security regimen that has kept me without a disabling computer virus or malware meltdown for more than twenty years.
1. Download and run "Wise Disk Cleaner" - you can pay for it but I use the free version. It has a common cleaner and an advanced cleaner. Run both. Once you have downloaded and installed it, it will automatically update itself.
2. Download and run "Ccleaner". Run the disk cleaner module before you run the registry cleaner. Allow the registry cleaner to create a back of your system's Registry.
3. Download and run "Wise Registry Cleaner". Also allow this program to create a back up of your Registry.
4. Download and run "Malwarebytes". I subscribe to this software, but there is a freeware version. Malwarebytes is very good for malware but also is getting better with viruses. The reason I use it, though, is because it has a heuristics module in addition to a .dat file scanner. For scans most virus and malware programs use data files with descriptions of known viruses or malware once they have been found. These data files are updated by the programs on a regular basis. Programs that use heuristics, on the other hand, look for problems not by looking for known, specific files or data, but by analysing "the behavior" of that data to find files that might be viruses or malware
5. Run a deep scan on whatever virus/firewall software you already have installed on your computer. I currently use Vipre. I do a systematic review of virus/firewall software every year and change to the one that gets the most consistent reviews. This is my third year using Vipre.
6. Reboot your computer immediately. You may have noted that some of the programs gave you a message that some cleanup will not be completed until reboot.
7. If you are still having problems, reboot your computer into Safe Mode without internet access and repeat the process. In fact, if you are having serious problems, do this in Safe Mode to begin with.
I do this at least once a week without fail or anytime my computer exhibits peculiar behavior. It is also not a bad idea to activate rootkit scanning modules (Malwarebytes has one but you have to activate it through Settings) and anti-keylogger scanners (if your anti-virus software does not have one, there are freeware versions available for download).
I am sorry if all this seems obvious or redundant, but you would be surprised how many people do not follow any security regimen whatsoever - and, having your security software set to automatically scan, is not the same thing. Also, it is a good idea to check periodically to see that your security software that is supposed to be running in the background as well as your firewall software is actually turned on. Malware and viruses can actually turn them off without your knowing.
If your problem is already solved, hopefully this will be of some help to some if not downright boring to others.![]()
By the way, I do not represent any of the above mentioned, programs.![]()
Starting to show up on mine too.The Kitchen-Aid crap started on my computer today. I use Chrome so I took the advice on the other thread and downloaded Adblock. It seems to have worked.
Edit: Thank you joeywa.
