Crow was the first Heisman winner for the Aggies, who were coached at the time by Paul "Bear" Bryant. During the 1957 season,

Bryant famously said: "If John David Crow doesn't win the Heisman Trophy, they ought to stop giving it."

Well...he won it.  One tough Texas Aggie.  RIP, Mr. Crow.

Yep, the Sugar Land Express as they called him. He should have went to Texas.

Read an SI article years ago on him I believe. Did he transfer or drop out of AM after a few seasons, was he injured? Thanks! Obviously my memory has faded, guess I threw myself under the bus in this post.

As I recall, Hall quit A&M just before the infamous Junction Camp trip. He later knocked around the CFL and NFL before retiring and opening a store.
