The problem is you never know who he is talking to or about? Is he sending a message, a smoke screen or just using Jerry talk? This is where he just rambles and while speaking, his words mean nothing.
Yesterday Jones talked of Terrance Newman. He said, "He still has his speed and what you have to do to complete this comment is tell me what your're going to do to replace him. And I'm not there." Reading that statement makes me wonder if Jerry is watching Cowboys games? Meanwhile Newman's agent has not been contacted by the Cowboys. Is Jerry just rambling on about a player who has been a Cowboy for a long time or does he really believe TNew can still play?
With Jerry it just keeps getting crazier. He says the Cowboys had the talent to be in the Super Bowl last year and mentioned he thought they would have competed in 2010 if not for Romo being injured. For the record, the team was 1-5 when Tony went down against the Giants in game 6. Jerry never lets things like facts get in the way of a good story.
He now says the 2012 team will have the talent to compete for a Super Bowl. "I see the talent level as being able to put us in a competitive situation for the Super Bowl,"Jones said. Now that is the eternal optimist that has been a common theme with Jerry talk. One day he will be the hard nosed guy who takes no prisoners and the next he is the guy who wants to forgive all and have a smiley face. If you ever get to the point where you can tell what he is really thinking, let me know. Until then I hope you enjoyed those three Super Bowls!
