Alderman – While Texas and Iowa State are both sitting at 2-4, the two teams are not close to being the same in any area. The Longhorns have better overall talent and have big advantages in nearly all position battles in this matchup. The areas that could hurt the Longhorns in this game are Special Teams and the matchup of Texas' Safeties & ‘backers on ISU's TE EJ Bibbs. I expect the Longhorns to try and establish a steady rushing attack against the Cyclones, which bring in one of the worst statistical rush defenses in the nation. Texas will most likely start out slowly, but I think they pull away late.

Carrara – Malcolm Brown and Jonathan Gray both have a big night on the ground and the Longhorns get a 38-10 win over the Cyclones. Defense reigns again for the Longhorns.

Cotcher – This Texas team hasn’t taken any big steps forward this season. Rather they’re taking slow, small steps and gradually getting better. A lot of folks are expecting a blowout on the scoreboard, but based on the first six games, that’s not realistic. Regardless of the score, this game won’t be close on the field.

Flanagan – The fact that the Longhorns have been in every game since the BYU blowout is a great sign for the future, and it should be rewarded with a victory this weekend. Iowa State is no pushover but the Longhorns aren't going to overlook the Cyclones.

Garland – Texas is 4-1 in the last five meetings with Iowa State. With the defense improving each week since the BYU debacle look for that trend to continue. Also look for the Texas offense to "hurry up†at times. Swoopes keeps mistakes to a minimum while the rushing attack gets the job done.

Hinton – After one of the most meaningful losses in recent memory, ironically the Texas players, coaches, and fans seem to all be feeling as though this program may have turned a corner at the State Fair of Texas last weekend. The key for Charlie Strong this Saturday evening will be to make sure his players use this momentum to carry them to a win that could set the tone for remainder of the season. From all we've seen of Strong, I don't doubt that he can keep this team focused – he’ll keep his team from a "let-down".

Hopkins – Iowa State has proved themselves throughout the season against good teams, but Texas is coming off of a loss and the Longhorns are hungry for a win. Though our special teams are dismal, on Saturday night our offense will look better than it has this season.

Roach – The Horns seem to have turned the corner a bit in last Saturday’s loss to Oklahoma. Tyrone Swoopes started playing with confidence and the offense showed it could move the ball and score. Iowa State could be a dangerous trap game without Steve Edmond and Jason Hall, but the Longhorn players have made it very clear they are in no position for a let-down. The offense showed a lot more Wickline in it last week, playing out of formations straight from the Oklahoma State playbook. They will need to continue to build on last week’s performance while limiting the drive killing mistakes they made over and over. The defense will be facing an anemic Iowa State offense with tight end E.J. Bibbs as the only legitimate weapon. Tyrone Swoopes puts together another strong game in his continuing maturation and Texas rolls.
