Red's comments are making national news. This is really bad for us. It makes it harder for Charlie to recruit, bring in coaches. It's a mess.

SignUp Now!Man, I hope so!good grief.
well, i guess red will be making a "clarifying" statement shortly.
When a man has proven himself as a head coach, he doesn't deserve to have others publicly declare he is no better than a position coach at best. Like it or not, much of how Charlie Strong is accepted at Texas, by those wanting to conduct negative recruiting or by those wanting to take shots at Texas, will be passed through the filter of race. Red McCombs has created the opportunity for others to promote the impression a black man may not always be treated fairly or given credit for his accomplishments should he walk on the campus at UT-Austin. I think a lot of impressionable 17 year-old kids will wonder how true this might be and won't want to find out the hard way.Only if the recruits are swayed by Red McCombs. I don't think too many 17 year olds are.
Hard to imagine when he's on ESPN radio in Dallas doing the same sh$t today.good grief.

He didn't declare Strong as incompetent at all, he said he'd make a GREAT position coach or coordinator. How is that incompetent?Kind of hard to say you don't have anything against Strong himself after you basically declared him incompetent.
Back handed compliment, IMO. To say that a head coach, who has won 23 games the past two seasons, and a BCS bowl, would make a "Great position coach or coordinator" is basically saying he is "incompetent" as a head coach, no?He didn't declare Strong as incompetent at all, he said he'd make a GREAT position coach or coordinator. How is that incompetent?
Seems some folks just want to chunk stones at anyone who questions the hire.
