I was afraid of this....

Only if the recruits are swayed by Red McCombs. I don't think too many 17 year olds are.

Kind of hard to say you don't have anything against Strong himself after you basically declared him incompetent.

When a man has proven himself as a head coach, he doesn't deserve to have others publicly declare he is no better than a position coach at best. Like it or not, much of how Charlie Strong is accepted at Texas, by those wanting to conduct negative recruiting or by those wanting to take shots at Texas, will be passed through the filter of race. Red McCombs has created the opportunity for others to promote the impression a black man may not always be treated fairly or given credit for his accomplishments should he walk on the campus at UT-Austin. I think a lot of impressionable 17 year-old kids will wonder how true this might be and won't want to find out the hard way.

This is another example of how the eunuchs in our media relations positions are allowing the reputation of UT to be trashed by not getting out in front of this and doing damage control. The cost of the rot within Bellmont continues to damage the program and the University and it looks like its going to get FAR worse before it is corrected.

This in some way might be good?? National slap down might possibly make him think.....we can hope

good grief.
well, i guess red will be making a "clarifying" statement shortly.
Hard to imagine when he's on ESPN radio in Dallas doing the same sh$t today.

People will see through his rant and come to the conclusion that he is an old senile windbag that got shut out and is just mad.

He's going to come off looking like a jilted, pathetic old man.

He didn't declare Strong as incompetent at all, he said he'd make a GREAT position coach or coordinator. How is that incompetent?

Seems some folks just want to chunk stones at anyone who questions the hire.

My goodness Red, what is wrong with you. Red you are supposed to be a smart man and you know what this will do to the University. Your mental capacity is a little low.

Back handed compliment, IMO. To say that a head coach, who has won 23 games the past two seasons, and a BCS bowl, would make a "Great position coach or coordinator" is basically saying he is "incompetent" as a head coach, no?
