. . . why we can't beat OSU and OU.

I've watched the OU game with Tulsa today. They're VERY beatable. Tulsa had their way, especially in the passing game. Tulsa's Dline also had success penetrating the LOS. I was shocked that Tulsa looked so good against OU, especially in Norman.

OSU looked good against UTSA today. But a lot of teams look good against UTSA. Nevertheless, we get them at home. I really like our chances.

Defense, particular DL, must get better but even still, neither OU or OSU will be as good of an offense as Cal showed us tonight.

Can someone tell me again why we didn't recruit Perrine? From the Austin area? He's the one thing on that offense that scares me.

The more experience in this offense these players get the better. The same goes for the defense, even though I am concerned that its the 3rd straight game with the same issues.

The trenches will be the thing to watch again this saturday.

I agree with you. That puts Texas at 3-3 going into the softer part of their schedule of KState, Iowa State, & Kansas. They should come out of that stretch 6-3 heading into WVU.

Mayfield scares me a lot more than Perrine. IMO Texas will beat Kansas and maybe Iowa St. Depends on how Richardson does.

I think we can win 2 of the next 3. We will probably lose to TCU, but their defense has been destroyed this year so i don't think it would be a blowout.

What if at the end of the year Texas only losses are to a final four team (ND), one of the top 3 in the PAC-12 in CAL (it’s possible), and the two B12 Co-champions (TCU and Baylor).

Plus they have wins against their Red river Rival (OU), C-USA champion (Rice), and the rest of the BIG12 and finish with an 8-4 record.  Would everybody take that and call it a successful year?  I sure as hell would.  It would be a successful year even if they dropped one on the road at WV and finished at 7-5.

I know this is a "what if" question, but I want to see this thing play out.  The defense MUST get better (I know that's a DUH comment, but its true).  They don't have to be dominant just good enough to win 4 or 5 series a game and hold their opponents to 35pts or less.  Maybe I’m drunk with Heard Juice right now (that just sounds nasty), but I think it’s entirely possible for this to play out this way.

I know some of the naysayers will say there is no way, but who else on their schedule is NOT beatable outside of TCU and Baylor?  OK State is beatable, Oklahoma will be difficult, but not impossible, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Texas Tech and West Virginia are all beatable by this team.  Imo, West Virginia would be hard because it's on the road and they have a decent team.

This is just my opinion for this season.

While I will agree that our defense has not been stellar, we have played some really good offenses in pre-conference play, with a really young defense.  We have seen steady improvement, and I believe this team is growing up.  While it was not a perfect game, we did get some pressure on Cal, and minus a few big runs due to blown assignments, I believe the defense has improved.  After hearing about how the team reacted following this game, I think we are going to see some things start to turn.  Just my opinion, but I am not too worried.  I think we have a good shot at finishing toward the top of the Big XII.  We will see.

Now that we have a QB and new play caller I think we can move the ball on anybody. Unfortunately I don't think we'll stop anybody.

I suspect last night is a preview of pretty much every game we'll see the rest of the season.

Why do you think we can beat OU ? We couldn't stop them last year and we were better then, and they were worse. They have a record setting QB now, good WRs, and a couple of backs that will have Heisman numbers against our red carpet defense. True we have a good QB this year, but our OL is still suspect, and our backs are not stellar. We won't be able to keep up. Not to mention the refs will home it for the higher ranked, undefeated Sooners so the Big 12 keeps their hopes for a play off spot alive.

Easy. I don't agree with you. We were not better than they were then. Still, we almost won and did win on the field. We had Swoopes QB'ing.

They were better because they had a decent OL, DL and more offensive weapons. Those same things are their weaknesses this year.

That "record setting" (LOL) QB is a walk on. What record has he broken in three career games as a Sooner?

Guess what? WE HAVE A RECORD SETTING QB now. So they get to face 4-5 times the weapon at QB that they saw last year.

Their QB can't run. Ours can. Our defense should be able to pin its ears back against a lackluster OL. Whats going to stop us?

So that narrows it down to stopping Perrine. If you can narrow your focus like this before you get into the stadium, it does not bode well for OU.

Let me help you with the play off thing. It won't be OU. They are pretenders. If they represent the Big 12 in the playoffs, watch the game from under your kitchen table because it will be embarrassing. Tulsa pretty much had their way with that OU secondary. Tulsa receivers who wanted to come to Texas but weren't good enough, namely Kenyaris Garrett, were piling up incredible stats as if OU was some bottom of the MAC defense.

F OU. I can't wait to get a piece of that.

Sirhornsalot....

He broke Sam Bradford's single game passing record a few weeks ago. He just set another record this past weekend for OU. He is just burying a Heisman winner's records..thats all.

Their OL must be pretty good to be allowing their QB to excel. Perrin is a beast. We couldn't stop him last year with Brown and company. How we stopping him with the DL we have now ?

We pin our ears back and they will hit us with screen passes and draws to Perrine and their other back. In order to pin our ears back in a pass rush, you have to get them in a 3rd and long. Hard to do when you give up 5 to 8 yards a carry on 1st or 2nd down. Do you remember those screen passes California threw at us ?

I never said OU would be the team from the Big 12 to make the play-offs; I said they are unbeaten  and ranked and are in the running at this time. The Big 12 refs WILL favor them...hide and watch.....

i think OU had like a 31-10 lead and probably started to coast a little. When Tulsa challenged, after that OU stuck it in the end zone to finish them off.

All OU has to do is line up with trips to one side and twins to the other...Bedford will try to play the trips with two DBs and a widened LB who will not be able to "get there". Easy 10-15 yard gain every time. Watch game videos if you have any to watch.

the Texas defense held ou pretty well last year their 2 of the scores happened on kickoff and int returns

No hiding will be done here.

Mayfield has been sacked SIX TIMES in three games. He is averaging a whopping 9.7 yards per completion. Yea, thats heisman stuff. lol

He's been sacked almost as much as he's thrown TD passes.

Quick, outside of Sterling Shepard, name one OU WR. I can't either.

Against the only quality opponent OU has faced (Tennessee), he wasn't so impressive. He had 4.8 yds per completion, hitting only half of his passes (19 of 39) with 2 INTS.

The other two opponents were Akron and Tulsa. Come'on. Allen would beat either of those two. And Tulsa played with OU.

Grant the walk-on legendary status if you must, but don't expect me to drink that. He's a walk-on who's had an easy ride so far. It won't stay that way. Cinderella is about to see midnight.

Tulsa moved the ball at will all game long. If OU coasted in the first quarter, then they are a piss-poor coached team.

Tulsa had 31 first downs. 31

603 TOTAL YARDS

427 YARDS PASSING

0 INTS

0 FUMBLES LOST (OU lost two)

RAN 91 OFFENSIVE PLAYS (more than OU)

I'm not talking about Texas Tech here. This is TULSA

You can feel good about that all you want.
