I see no reason . . .

Lets hope Tulsa isn't very good. Sirhornsalot, I hope you are right. I hate walking out of the Cotton Bowl a loser.

I just have absolutely no faith in Bedford to scheme anything that will stop anyone.

He's got problems at DT. Not enough talent and Ridgeway has not acclimated to every down playmaker. He's still taking plays off. Right now, we're warm bodies occupying space and thats about it.

He's got a young, young secondary. They'll be very good with time, but for now they're prone to making mistakes. And making big plays. They'll have four games under their belt by the time OU rolls around.

That and the busted assignments, the out of position, bad angles – all things that can get corrected. IMO, we're about to see how good of a DC Bedford really is.

IMO, OU has more issues with their defense than we do with ours. And I think we have a lot of issues. lol

Things are getting better. Lets see how this plays out. I just don't have a very high opinion of OU or Stoops.

I'm drinking the kool-aid and it taste fine to me. Despite being 1-2 I have a good feeling that we will be quite satisfied with our boys come at the end of the season. I just have this feeling that we are going to be better than what others have predicted. Let's not forget that we have some inexperience guys on defense that will only get better. I'm not counting these boys out.

Time for GBT to slither back under his rock. Bye. Bye. Sucker! Don't let the door knob hit 'ya.

Hook 'em!

Heard is magic with the ball in his hand. Our offense is showing improvement with the OC change and QB change. I realize talent is an issue on defense. Charlie brought in some talent to help the offense, and benched Watson. The offense is on the rise.  Charlie needs to fix the defense as best he can to give us a chance.

Yes, we need to shoot high on the DT recruiting. Its start there in the middle. We've simply got to get more talented there.

I look forward to the return of Deshon Elliott from injury. I was counting on him replacing one of our starters at safety this year. A combo of Hall and Elliott would be formidable, IMO. Hill and Boyd, Bonney at the corners, That's some serious talent in the secondary there. We keep building on that.

I think we need to add a couple of high quality LBs. Until Malik, you really didn't hear much from LBs around the league. Now you do. We need another couple like him.

Omehuyu (sp) is going to be a helluva player. He's pretty decent now but needs seasoning and some strength to his game.

Shiro Davis is finally starting to look the part. I hope the trend continues.

So there's some talent on board already. But DT is where we're just average, at best.

I know Vacarro made some mistakes and may not be on the same level, on the mental side of the game, as Haines, but he sure does bring some game changing hits.

Haines just does not have the physical ability, imho, to be the number 1 at the position.

If Heard stays Healthy; There is no doubt we can finish with 7 wins going to a Bowl with an 8th win being possible.

Is an 8 win season a success?

IMO, 7 wins is progress. 8 wins is success.

Right now, I learn toward 7 wins.

Why do you think we can beat OU ? We couldn't stop them last year and we were better then, and they were worse. They have a record setting QB now, good WRs, and a couple of backs that will have Heisman numbers against our red carpet defense. True we have a good QB this year, but our OL is still suspect, and our backs are not stellar. We won't be able to keep up. Not to mention the refs will home it for the higher ranked, undefeated Sooners so the Big 12 keeps their hopes for a play off spot alive.
I'll take issue with a couple of things you said.

First of all, this is the best I have seen a UT OL play in three years.  Heard mostly had all day to throw a pass - especially in the first half.  You would be blind if you didn't see this.  In fact, I will go as far to say that Williams and Vahe are future NFL picks - if they keep trending the way they are.  They are animals and have deep seated mean streaks.  I love it.

Foreman is a terrifying back.  Especially to DB's.  I think we will see him playing more and more and he will present a huge problem for DC's.

Heard is not just a "good"QB, he is special.  He is only going to get better as the game slows down for him.  I'm amazed how he picked up on the disguises that Rice and Cal threw against him.

That being said, we need him running less and Foreman running more.  Two hundred pound QB's will struggle to last the season, running like he did against Cal.

Gray needs to play RB when passing packages are in play.

As long as Heard gets down like he did and avoids the hits he should be ok. Our problem is cheap shots like the one where the Cal guy didn't let go of an obvious facemark hold, or late hit etc. I would like to see more two back sets with Gray and Foreman or Foreman and Warren. That gives defenses THREE ball threats. And since Gray catches the ball well out of the backfield it doesn't limit passing targets. It also puts a quadruple option into the arsenal. Dive to Foreman pitch to Warren/Gray, Heard keeping, or Heard throwing. just more wrinkles for a defense to worry about. The diamond formation should also be in the works to get all four on the field at once. This offense is limitless with a talent like Heard.

Since we are weak against the run we need to mix in some 50 or 3-4 to add a body on the LOS. We really need to get away from the 3-3-5 unless its 3rd and a mile.

Lets hope that OL play was not due to Cal laying back not wanting to give Heard lanes to run in. I remember Tech or Houston ( which one escapes me at the moment ) doing that to try to prevent VY from killing them with his feet. After Heard lit them up throwing, they then had to risk it and he made them pay. Thats what is so good about a QB like VY, JFF, Heard, etc....Whatever the D does is wrong.

Everyone we play will have to protect the running lanes when Heard is in there. That will make blocking by the OL a bit easier. I would also expect a lot of zone as well.

Heard's abilities are game changers. He just needs to avoid getting hit as much as he can. We do not have a back up for him.
