Hiring timeline, NS involvement

one thing I really like about this site, you can have discussions without all the juvenile comments and your name being drug through the mud.
Its refreshing to read the posts here. The articles on BON and Barking Carnival are awesome.

The Posts on Shaggy Bevo are unbearable.

It's good this HC hire is being handle through the appropriate channels. I like how quiet it's been too.
Its quiet, but you can still find info. I think frustration with Mack's failures drove the hysteria last week more than the actual news.

I look at TOS as the big city. People tend be more rude and rambunctious in the city.
Hornsports is like the suburbs where you know and care about your neighbor.

If Jan 6 is the date that means of McPhaul's top 4, only Saban and John Harbaugh are possibilities IMO. Fisher is going to be coaching a pretty important game that evening and Jim Harbaugh's 49ers are still going to be in the playoffs. I don't think the Ravens make the playoffs so he would be the other choice.

If the national title game is the announcement date I think it almost HAS to be someone MAJOR like Saban or John Harbaugh. Otherwise why announce that night if it's someone without major name recognition?

Did everyone else notice, that in the press conference last Sunday, when someone asked the question about Saban, Powers took control and said that he had not talked to Saban and does not know him. Meanwhile, Patterson sat there with tight lips and made no comment.

I can't imagine an announcement on Jan. 6. Jan. 7, yes.

Right, of all the names that have been "listed" by various sources (tier 1), Saban and Meyer would have the easiest path.

My interpretation of the timing was "We want Saban and if he wants us we announce him on the 6th." If Saban doesn't happen, I would imagine we move to Jim H. and see what situation he will be in at that time because there is no telling right now, which makes the 6th an odd date for most...except Saban, for sure.
