Hiring timeline, NS involvement

With a Jan.6 announcement date, I guess that means that Malzahn and Jimbo are not in the mix.

I would prefer to be in the dark on the coaching search rather than have information from insider reports surface in the mainstream media and lead coaches to sign extensions and have to make verbal denials. It's like the people with information have forgotten what happened last week.
I don't think the mainstream media is gonna touch this story again. A lot of people got left with egg on their faces last weekend.

Saban does not have a buyout so, the extension is immaterial.

The Texas offer will far exceed the Alabama extension.

Terry Sabans feelings for Tuscaloosa have not changed

The Sabans purchased a house in Austin. That house is being renovated. Could they turn this property? Sure.

Powers and Brown have been completely neutered. Neither one will have a voice in the selection.

Patterson & the Powerbrokers that coveted Saban are now running the show.

Okay, don't shoot the messenger, as no, I am not anywhere as connected as McPhaul. But I'm going to pass along info I received today from a trusted friend, who got his info from a regent source:

1) Patterson wants to announce our new Hc on Jan. 6, the day of the BCS Championship, so that current commits and potential flips/recruits will see it (maximum exposure that day).

2) Saban is still in play. Via Sexton, it is supposedly arranged for Nick to interview with Patterson et al on Jan. 3, the day after Bama's bowl game with OU. This gives Nick cover from the orchestra in order to prepare his team for the game, and not have to answer questions about the Texas job, again, like during our last circus.

Do I believe this all? Yes, it could happen. Is it 100%? Of course not, no one can be 100% except Steve Patterson.

I do believe that Steve Patterson will hire a great HC for our great University.

If it's Saban, that's great. If it's someone else, then that's great too.

McPhaul, Mr. Cosell, Shaunsters, etc: please feel free to chime in, corroborate, refute.

Just relaying what I was told. Again, don't shoot the messenger. Just felt like y'all would want to know, as I have too much other work going on to take time to "create news" like some other sites. If it comes to fruition, then HS (and BOFZ) will have been on it first.
If the announcement were to occur on the 6th and the day of the BCS championship game, that would seem to rule out Malzahn and Fisher as I can't believe we'd want to be associated with a major distraction to one of the two teams if we were after either HC.

All promising signs!

Thanks for passing what you hear along to the rest of us. I hope this site never becomes one (as others are), where messenger is killed. I hope members will also post something they have legitimately heard. The rest of us can decide how much value we put in it. It does not require blasting the messenger.

This is very consistent with what I am hearing. Saban, I have heard, will likely interview with Patterson around this time. Like McPhaul stated above, all of the pieces are in still in play as before with the exception of Mack. Powers has lost the political power to fight the Saban selection, if that is who is selected. Also, note who is on the selection committee; there is no coincidence here, and it does indicate how Patterson feels about Saban. We are talking to Sexton and working to make it happen. Will it happen? Only time will tell. If not, we will definitely get a top tier coach.

Thanks, McPhaul. That's why we are all here. :)
I doubt I ever have any inside info, but as someone who likes to read what others are saying that is what makes this site so good, people not ripping each......great site.....and info

I look at TOS as the big city. People tend be more rude and rambunctious in the city.

Hornsports is like the suburbs where you know and care about your neighbor.

So who is on the selection committee??
The committee members are:

• Steve Hicks, vice chair of the Board of Regents, one of the board’s athletics liaisons, and owner and executive chairman of Capstar Partners LLC, a private investment firm.

• Robert Stillwell, member of the Board of Regents, one of the board’s athletics liaisons, retired partner at Baker Botts LLP and an original director of Mesa Petroleum Co.

• Michael Clement, accounting professor, McCombs School of Business at UT Austin, and faculty representative to the Men’s and Women’s Athletics Councils.

• Ricardo Hinojosa, United States federal judge for the Southern District of Texas, former member of the university’s Commission of 125.

• Charles Matthews, former vice president and general counsel of Exxon Mobil, current president of the Texas Exes.

• Robert Rowling, former member of the Board of Regents and owner and chairman of TRT Holdings Inc.

• Charles Tate, chairman of Capital Royalty, former member of the executive committee of the university’s Commission of 125.

• Pamela Willeford, former U.S. ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein and former chair of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Patterson also has hired Jed Hughes of Korn/Ferry International, an executive recruiting firm, to help with the search.

You should never be blasted for sharing what you believe to be credible information. Interesting stuff. We will see how it all plays out. :)

one thing I really like about this site, you can have discussions without all the juvenile comments and your name being drug through the mud.

It's good this HC hire is being handle through the appropriate channels. I like how quiet it's been too.

A Suburb?? Or a Country Town??
