Heard is out for Baylor

I'm fairly certain Merrick has been our 3rd QB.  I know Holtz got to take a couple of snaps in the blowout - but if we actually needed to turn to a QB because of injury I think Merrick would be the guy.  They're not going to burn Locksley's shirt.
That'd officially be the dumbest thing CFS does as UT coach if he burns Locksley's redshirt.

Hell, play Holtz or Vinklarek if Swoopes goes down. We're not playing for a damn thing anyway. Screw it

Totally agree.

I think it would be dumb to burn Locksley's or Merrick's redshirt.

You're just one game away from finally being a really good position with your QB pipeline and never having to consider using a true freshman.

More non-participants ...

Malik is 2nd in tackles

Haines leads team in INT.

I remember all the years of watching UT running the wishbone (and other 3 yards and a cloud of dust offenses) and hard as nails defenses. I don't recall having to worry every snap about someone getting injured. What's going on with this problem of softness now?

Playing on turf. Playing on grass is softer when you are tackled..Also when ur cleats plant into grass, the grass gives way lowering ACL injuries and sprained ankles.
But turf is prettier and cost effective..The rich get richer at the sacrifice of the Ahtletes´ health

I think a lot of it has to do with the significant increase in the size and speed of players. Speed x mass equal momentum. The mass and speed of players has increased while the strength and size of tendons and ligaments has not.

i agree that turf is more cost effective but doesn't that rubber turf make it a more "cushiony" feel?  it couldn't be any worse than grass.

I'm in your camp 100%.

During DKR's days of the wishbone, I think our OL averaged 260 lbs.  None would start in todays environment.

Look at Malik Jefferson.  That cat is 6'4", 240 lbs., is quick as a hiccup and can run like the wind.

In the wishbone days he would have been all world.  And he would have put Tommy Nobis on the bench.

Todays players are bigger, faster and MEAN.

I asked 2 D1 athletes personally about turf (1 being a former 4 star FS for the longhorns). Your cleats grip the turf better allowing you to run faster and juke/cut on it better, but they hated getting tackled on it. This was a conversation i had 4 years ago so I would hope science is advancing for turf to be as comparable to grass as possible.
But I do agree that athletes are bigger/stronger/faster than ever as well.

I think all that put together leads to more injuries.

bigger/stronger/faster definitely is contributing to concussions imo

By no means am i claiming be an expert fellas, I'm just sharing their opinions

We now have proof that you have been hit in the head too many times. That is a NO WAY in big capital letters.

Dayum - all 4500 acres? :P

Well, yea, this is about Nobis. That's good for double that size. :)

If anyone could pull that off, it would be a landscape contractor. Simply create a toilet paper hydromulch and shoot it all over your 4500 acres, which will take about an hour or two.

Maybe use compost tea instead of water so you get a nice aroma for a while :)
