*****Game Thread: Texas vs. Texas Tech*****

Problems in Austin. Herman is not the coach we need. No way this game should have been that close.

maybe concentrate more on practicing football and less on protesting.

My thoughts on the game . . . Tech was ready to play. This was their bowl game. They have a very good offense. I know, it's Tech, but Tech played well and Jones Stadium is always a tough place to play. We came away with the W and two weeks from now, that's all anyone will really know about this game.

We grew up in this game. When down by 15 with 3:+ minutes to go, most Texas teams in the past would have either made it close or not scored at all. Not what this team did. I am impressed.

Very impressed with Joshua Moore. The kid is a real weapon. I like his game, a lot.

I don't know what his stats were, but Ingram had a very nice game. Started slow but was almost unstoppable there in the 4th.

Overshown had a nice game.

Ossai had a good game and caused mistakes. I want to see him get to the QB and put him on his back.

Tech's taller WRs really took advantage of our CBs. I'm sure OU was watching.

Our special teams were a joke. Whoever coaches them needs a butt chewing. That was awful.

OL continues to be meh. We finally were able to run the ball after awhile, but we got to do better. This was not a good DL.

We could have put this game away in the first half and didn't. That concerns me. We have to kill the enemy's spirit and do it early.

Did I mention special teams sucked?

I'll take the win in Lubbock. We have much to work on but this game provides some hope.
Good post. I agree with most.... with a couple of exceptions:

1. I thought Overshown did not have a very good game.  Tackling was poor and he overran the play a couple times.  Talent is there, no doubt.

2. You're a little more optimistic than I.  I see the same things in this team as every other Tom Herman team.  This is, as were the last 3, Tom Herman’s team.   Not the coordinators but Tom’s team.  At some point I think the focus needs to shift from coordinators and OL coach to Tom Herman.  I think that time has long since passed.

By the way, special teams (IMHO) is usually a product of emphasis and time the HEAD COACH puts on it.... regardless of who is assigned to it.  One constant in the CTH era is abysmal special teams.  Even worse than what Coach Strong ran out there.  Today was not the exception but the rule.

I know it’s early.... I know we’re 2-0 and I know I’ll get hammered for this  but Herman is the current problem.  Maybe we’ll get lucky with the next coach we hire   I feel better with Del Conte pulling the trigger this time.

Jeez, the horns defense or "efense" regressed back to the manny diaz days! WTH is going on with poor tackling and lack of coverage skills? Im happy for the win but im fuming at the state of the defense! I dont want to even mention the ST play. Thank you offense for scoring 63!
I’ll admit that I didn’t expect to be giving up a half a century to Texas Tech in YEAR 4 of the coach we outbid LSU to have.

I feel your pain!

I’m watching the Alabama/ Missouri game. Alabama’s offensive line isn’t getting much push either.

No offense Java but maybe thats why they recruited the Brocks. and another five star tackle.

I'm sitting at the beach now relaxing and letting the stress wash away from me.

Maybe its the Hawaii beach talking, but I'm going to try a different approach than i normally would.

This team has a lot of work to do, but i would rather learn that after a win than a loss.  They got a conference win on the road and learned a lot about themselves in the process.  One thing they learned (hopefully) is they're not as great as maybe they thought they were and cant take anyone for granted.  Again, they learned this in a win.  They also learned (or at least I did) that this team has heart and no quit in them.  They couldve easily packed it in.

Again, maybe its the beach, but im going to enjoy this team being 1-0 in the conference.  Ask OU, the alternative is not that great.

If I was there I would buy you a Mai Tai. Beautiful place.

Most disappointing thing to me was that we didn't put Tech away despite several chances. Really good teams step on the throat of their opponent and it does not seem this team has done that in a very long time. Use to feel the same way during the Mack years. Like many others, I am glad to get a win in Lubbock but there is a lot of work to do. Everybody else in the conference, even Kansas will be stoked to play us so I hope we find a killer instinct and learn to put teams away really fast or I'm going to have to start taking Xanax by the handful.

I feel bad for anyone who could not enjoy one of the greatest comebacks in UT history. I thought the cops were going to come because I was yelling when we recovered the onside kick, scored each time, and then won the game.

I still believe with Sam we can win the rest of our games. If you check our schedule were not playing anyone that we can't beat. I do like the comparisons to Tom Brady. We were lucky, but Sam was clutch.

I wasn't impressed with our running game in the first half. The three running backs all averaged around 3 yards per carry. It looked like in the fourth quarter the Tech defense got tired and we were able to run. The offensive line is still a concern.

The report from fall camp was that Jake Smith was our best receiver. This offense needs him and Whittington I heard that Jordan will not be back for OU.

If Ash is a good coach like Herman and that guy who used to coach at Ohio State says then the defense should improve. I'm going to give him more than one game  to find out. He went from probably the worst offense we will play in UTEP, to maybe the best offense we will face in the regular season.

I don't think I can remember so many important plays on special teams  OU lost and sucks .Please let Bijan be okay.

Per ESPN's Win Probability tracker, Texas Tech had a 99.8 percent chance of winning after going up 56-41, but Ehlinger had other ideas.

Ehlinger went 8-of-9 for 106 yards and three touchdowns and rushed three times for 18 yards after Texas fell behind 56-41.

Did anyone else have flashbacks to the KU game last year?  I sure as hell did.  Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.
