*****GAME THREAD - BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP: TEXAS vs. OKLAHOMA*****

Alabama/Georgia game is in 2nd quarter, but OU may care who won the Red River Rivalry.  Georgia is leading 21-7.  Of course, Alabama has time to come back.

I would think that most any coach is thinking let's at least try to get a field goal out of this. You have the ball at your own 44 with almost 2 minutes left and a couple of time outs.

It's only a problem because your defense let OU go 80 yards in about 40 seconds.

It's a classic second-guess situation. If Texas had sit on it and got beat, the second-guessers would been all over Herman for not being aggressive enough.

Wow, I'm not sure I see a 1st round pick out of him this year.  He is pretty good in run support, but his coverage skills are not elite right now.  But hey, if he has a 1st round grade then he should take it.
247 just reported he is leaning towards returning. So it may not matter.

Hopefully we can convince one of CJ or LJH to return as well

He has mismanaged the clock many a time this year... today was not an anomaly. The game plan should have been to play keep away today. Not quick score... manage clock vs a team that can score as fast as anybody. Kyler can’t score if he’s not on the field...

Folks ,  just my opinion but I honestly believe we are better team than OU , but they were just better prepared for this game and their coaches just out coached our staff .  That is just frustrating to me as there is no guarantee we make it back to the conference championship next year so when you have the opportunity you better cease it and we did not do that .

Okay, I'm willing to play. Name the games/times that Tom has mismanaged the clock. Shouldn't be hard for since there are "many".

I want to see them so I can go look at the play-by-play drive chart that is on the Texas site to see what you are talking about.

I'm headed to a Christmas party tonight, playing golf tomorrow, and won't be back on the board until late tomorrow afternoon so you've got plenty of time to think it through.

Anytime you're coming off a kick off return and your offense is penalized for delay of game, thats clock mismanagement, IMO. Its happened several times this year.

I’ll give you an easy one right now... and I’ve got some traveling to do so I won’t spend too much time proving something that is glaring...

4th qtr, our defense couldn’t stop a runny nose, we have the ball just into wvu’s territory, their D isn’t stopping us at all either... we can (A). Throw a bomb Td to duvernay with 2:30 left to put us up 7 and give them about twice as much time as they need to score on us. OR (B). We could run the ball, pick up first downs and force wvu to expend TO’s and potentially end the game with the ball in our hands.

Herman obviously chose (A). Which shows a lack of awareness of how absolutely terrible your defense is playing. Wvu calmly dismantles our defense, systematically, while ensuring we do not get the ball back.

It’s fine if you don’t want to see that stuff. It’s also fine if you believe that to be something other than a total lack of clock management and awareness of the game situation... but we’ve lost games we should have won.

Agree.

One of areas that needs to be cleaned up is the OL. They did not have a very good game today. The difference in OU's OL and ours was startling.
This will probably get me excoriated by some of this boards members, but I will be glad when a handful of seniors graduate. I'm ready for a team that has bought in from day one of their recruitment.

For those of you who want Texas in the Sugar Bowl, looks like you are going to get your wish.  Looks like Texas is going to get Georgia in Sugar Bowl. Hmmm  I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

As much as I hate ou and I do, they belong in the playoffs ahead of tOSU. Sorry but that's true. If they pick tOSU over ou tomorrow, that would be total BS.

Aren't you glad you were wrong? Now if tOSU trounces NWestern it might be a different story.
Yes I’m glad. I jumped the gun and overreacted. I wish I could say I will learn from this, but knowing me I’ll put my foot in my mouth again.
