1) Sexron and NS has have a window to answer yes.
2) Patterson is busy preparing about 5 or 6 different back up plans and every one of them would be a fantastic option.
3) Patterson will not be afraid to play hard ball with Sexton. They will know who has interest and ballpark figures of what Texas will be willing to give to other options. So does the best agent and Coach in college football pass up the most money? That's up to them to decide.
4) Patterson is well aware of the politics the comes with coaching hires. He will interview everyone the the search firm points out as due dilligence to avoid a political scrum in the media and with the NCAA. The is no Rooney rule but the NCAA encourages similar guidelines.
5) Don't be surprised if we hear that Muschamp gets a courtesy phone call because of Dodds. It's a simple courtesy. Not gonna happen.
6). The job is Saban's to turn down. After that there are a bunch of other potential longer term big hires that will have big money and resources thrown at them.
SHL, that is music to my ears. I like Harbaugh and Fischer, but I think the recruiting impact with Saban will be huge and you will see top-level recruits turn to the Longhorns by NSD. I actually think Leonard Fournette, Tony Brown, Hootie Jones and maybe even Ricky Town would be seriously looking at Texas with Saban. Just my opinion. What I've heard, if true, would be a clear indication that he's accepted, yes.
I think the decision is already made and has been made for almost a week. The terms of this deal were decided some days ago. The only lingering issues were the interference factor and a couple of minor things. The one big obstacle was removed. So the contract offer after our game was a formality, IMO. He knew what the contract said before he got it.
Bohls throws as much sh!t against the wall as the next guy. Lots of misinformation and smoke. If the coach turns out to be who we think it might be, we can affirm Patterson's masterful misinformation campaign this month. If Bohls tweets are to be believed it sure seems like Strong is a strong candidate (no pun intended).
Ketch also posted the search firm recommended to Patterson to hire Strong.
Just sharing the information and it is too hard to draw any conclusions from all the different reports.
What SHL said and now this...things are looking good! Thanks for sharing.I think we end up with Saban.
Now that was funny. I just laughed out loud and my entire family just looked at me.
A Strong hire would be par for the course for UT athletics the past 40 years. That's what I'm expecting.Good. I'm scared to death that we hire Strong. Underwhelming.
I thought this back when I first heard Kiffin was in Bama doing "consulting".What I find interesting as well is that Kiffin went to Bama to work with Saban on his offense, sold his house and such. If Saban is to take the job could he be bringing Kiffin as OC? Kiffin is also a Client of Sexton. Sexton could be getting paid all the way around plus getting his client back into coaching. Oh well I was just throwing that out there.
Quick, someone check to see if there were moving vans outside the Saban's house in Alabama. Kind of like the Colts moving out of Baltimore. This is probably nothing but there was a blacked out Suburban with Alabama plates with a DPS escort going down Lake Austin Blvd and turned onto Red Bud trail today. Obviously Nick is in NOLA but Terri could be nesting.
I think we end up with Saban.
