Friday-Saturday

Not trying to be a knot head, but the "committee" won't be the ones making a recommendation. They likely helped form some of the hire criteria but they won't sit around a table and say this is our guy. Even Powers said as much.
This is correct. Someone is chasing rabbits, I'll leave it at that.

Gonna party like it was 2005! Announcement can not come soon enough. Smoke will clear and Saban will appear.

Spoke with my source today. I won't be back on the board until later tonight but here's the bullet points.

1) Sexron and NS has have a window to answer yes.

2) Patterson is busy preparing about 5 or 6 different back up plans and every one of them would be a fantastic option.

3) Patterson will not be afraid to play hard ball with Sexton. They will know who has interest and ballpark figures of what Texas will be willing to give to other options. So does the best agent and Coach in college football pass up the most money? That's up to them to decide.

4) Patterson is well aware of the politics the comes with coaching hires. He will interview everyone the the search firm points out as due dilligence to avoid a political scrum in the media and with the NCAA. The is no Rooney rule but the NCAA encourages similar guidelines.

5) Don't be surprised if we hear that Muschamp gets a courtesy phone call because of Dodds. It's a simple courtesy. Not gonna happen.

6). The job is Saban's to turn down. After that there are a bunch of other potential longer term big hires that will have big money and resources thrown at them.

Well then, I guess we get to find out if Saban really wants the Texas job.

So shaunsters says on OB that Saban has an offer but may have moved on. My head is spinning.

Have heard the opposite is true.

sirhornsalot, so you're saying you've heard that Saban has a contract and is seriously considering it? I've thought from the get go that Saban will be our next coach and im not wavering until I hear otherwise.

You've heard he accepted?
What I've heard, if true, would be a clear indication that he's accepted, yes.

I think the decision is already made and has been made for almost a week. The terms of this deal were decided some days ago. The only lingering issues were the interference factor and a couple of minor things. The one big obstacle was removed. So the contract offer after our game was a formality, IMO. He knew what the contract said before he got it.

I actually think we still end up with Strong, but I hope you're right.

Every time I convince myself that Saban has sailed, you pull me back in... I have had to resort to some major blue bell therapy the past few weeks.
