Friday-Saturday

I am starting to get a feeling that Patterson has gone rogue on this. It will be Strong.. Just a hunch
C'mon man...don't depress us on New Year's Day!

One of the things that worries me is that he-who-must-not-be-named is scheduled to be on air for the NC which would be after any announcement Friday/Saturday.
You can say a lot about the guy, but I doubt he wants to do, what would be, a national press conference after deciding to bolt here. I'd imagine he'd want to lay as low as possible.
Actually I think the opposite is true. If "He" is the guy and decides to make that change, "He" will not mind at all having that national stage with every current recruit and every top prospect for the next few years watching "Him" talk about his new school on College Football's biggest stage. "He" won't want to lay low yet. We seem to have a way of making us the headline even when we are average, We're Texas. After tomorrow, as long as his family is safely outside the confines of that state, "He" no longer has any reasons for pretenses.

The very words of your post have put a jinx on that hire. :)

I dont' think it would be a national press conference at all. I think there's enough window of time to get the majority of the press rush out of the way. If anything, I think he may be asked a couple questions about it at the half or even before the game. The commentators will certainly talk about it some at the half. But there is a national championship game to be played and I'd imagine the networks will stick to playing that up as much as possible. There is a lot of time to be spent on showcasing both teams, so it's not going to be a Nick Saban Power Hour.
Then again if it were a Nick Saban Power Hour it would certainly play up to his ego! Lol

A HUGE time period for us. The future of UT football may turn a page during this time. This place will go off like a roman candle if things play out like I think.
I won't be able to get anything done.
Okay, let's see how it plays it out. By Friday or Saturday, you say it is Saban. I say, by the same time frame, it will be Briles.

And, FWIW, there is a HUGE difference between the two and I sincerely hope you win.

Now, if we both lose, do you agree it will be Strong or Harbaugh?

You know this is all in fun, right? :)

After Saban I would want Fisher or Harbaugh before Briles!

The only thing I know for sure is we will have a new coach. I think.. LOL

The questions aren't going to be about what he's going to do with Texas.

They're going to be about why he would leave Alabama after vehemently denying it.

He doesn't want to answer that question in front of an NC audience. He either straight up admits he wants the money or subtly disses Bama, neither of which are PR answers and both of them reflect poorly on him, regardless of whether it's fair that they do.

I guess he could hold a presser that lets people air their grievances prior to the game, but that doesn't really sound like his MO.

I think the program would be in more than capable hands with any of those four.

He can announce his OC and DC at the 50 yd line..lol

I think the misinformation campaign is doing exactly what it is designed to do, to get us talking and believing it is somebody else like Strong with that being said his name is coming up way to much for me to believe that it is Strong. Shoot if it is him why not just go ahead and announce that it is Strong his bowl game is already over no need to wait.

Well....Who will turn the dirt over??

Where's Darrell to tell us he still believes it's Saban? It feels like we need a big hire, and as much as I like Strong, all the Sanan talk nationally would make this a hugely underwhelming hire.

If we don't have Saban by end of day Saturday, then I will no longer think it's Saban. Saban will have said no.

And if it's not Saban, I think it will be Harbaugh.

And there's a faction that seem to like Briles. They could surge and make their guy the third choice and replace Strong, IMO. Briles does seem to be gaining chatter, but I've heard the Briles side is not so receptive. I'm not real tuned in on the Briles stuff, I'll admit.

Yes, it's fun, but I admit I'll be glad when it's over.

But then, we'll just be in a storm over who the OC and DCs will be.

Vigil, although I see your logic, and because he "vehemently denied it" to an extent it in the SEC minds it would make for some tough questions, and the Finebaums of the SEC world will be a bit hurt and vindictive in their reporting...

But let's not forget who "He" is.

It isn't like he hasn't already done exactly this, multiple times already. Why is this time suddenly different? Also, read all of his comments. He says he is dedicated to the guys "that are here" in preparing them for "their bowl game" or "I'm too old to start over" etc. Never does he flat out say I'll never leave, or "I'm going to retire here because of my love for Alabama" or anything like that ever. Everyone already knows there were discussions and he was listening. He can control the conversations he has with the media quite well if you haven't noticed, and nobody on that stage set (Herbstreit et al) is going to be the spokesperson for the butt-hurt SEC and be confrontational. It will not look good for them either if they do.

He cares very little about where he left, once he leaves, and puts blinders on focusing on his next thing, which is his track record and probably a key to his success.
