Brian Ethridge, who runs the Baylor 24/7 board, is a well respected guy. Multiple people I have spoken with, that don't even know each other, have told me they know his sources are legit based on information they know to be true. An SEC contact of his told him that the agreement between the SEC & Big 12 for the Champions Bowl requires the Big 12 to have a conference title game......and that isn't happening without 12 teams per NCAA rules.

Brian had tipped me off to this before & asked me to keep it quiet until he confirmed it through a 2nd source & he just tweeted it out this morning.

For lack of better words, the RFP (Request for Proposals) for hosting the Champions Bowl goes out next week (with the game being played after the 2014 regular season is over). Interesting news with the conference title game mandate. With that being said there is still a lot of time to acquire teams 11-?, so any word on how soon Clemson et al. will potentially make the jump?

Technically, the Big 12 wouldn't need to be at 12 until 2014 but last time I spoke with my source, he still insisted Big 12 expansion would happen this summer.

Also, many are asking why would the SEC want it in the Champions Bowl contract that the Big 12 expand? Here is what I was told.....it is no secret that the SEC wants to go to 16 by adding a couple of ACC schools (preferably Va Tech & North Carolina.....yes, North Carolina). Slive wants the Big 12 to be the first to take a chunk out of the ACC to lessen his (and the SEC's) exposure.

Well, I guess they didn't see Miami's newest round of indiscretions... Yahoo's Charles Robinson seems to have uncovered more about the Nevin Shapiro Ponzi scheme that plagued the 'Canes last year.
