Fire Shaka Smart thread

No because you'd have to pay the new coach his salary also.
And????  You’d be willingly accepting a subpar year again....something Texas should never do in any sport

I've stated several times that while I'm not backing Shaka, I just don't think Texas cares enough basketball to spend that much money to fire him. I could be wrong, it's just my opinion.

Different AD now.  I think he’ll talk the donors into it

Texas averaged 74 points a game

Tech averaged 72 points a game.

Texas shot 45% on the season

Tech shot 43% on the season

Texas 3 point shooting   35.58%

Tech 3 point shooting     35.37%

Yeah lets replace Shaka with Beard...

IMO Beard would frustrate Texas fans just as much as Shaka did. He is a good coach but he needs to change his offensive scheme as well.

You're shallow in your thinking.

Nevermind you're pitting Lubbock vs Austin. Lets forget about drawing top notch talent to Lubbock. Nevertheless, thats a good testament to Beard's abilities you provided. Not much to work with, yet still out produces Shaka. What oh what would he do if he could draw talent to his team? lol

Tech SWEPT us this year. Nothing you posted matters like W's and L's. You don't win a game because you had more yardage.

Also, use the link I provided in the previous post to brush up yourself with Tech's past few years. One good year? lol

Looks like Texas is going to have to pull some players from the portal with all the graduation plus the ones transferring

As I said in another thread post, I think this team is about to get gutted.  There is no reason for Williams to leave knowing that there is a good chance he will be a starter next year or 1st off the bench.

There are three good reasons for Texas to retain Shaka Smart

I’ve been on the “keep Shaka bus” for sometime.  But I think I’ve finally bailed.

Allow me to use two former Texas coaches to illustrate (though different sports):  Like Strong and Herman Shaka can recruit.  As a matter of fact Shaka is a great recruiter and that’s important.  Moreover, like Strong and Herman, Shaka lacks as a “during the game general.”  Attack plans and adjustments are inadequate.   But unlike Strong and Herman, Shaka actually develops talent.  I submit Coleman and Simms as two examples of players who progressed in a mighty way while under Shaka-tutelage.  For this reason I wanted Shaka to stay and hopefully improve at bench coaching.

That being said, the game plan, player rotation and lack of adjustments were so incredibly bad against ACU... it simply has overcome my ability to support Shaka remaining or certainly getting an extension.

Let’s give DelConte a shot at men’s basketball.  His hires have been peaches so far!

Based on the attendance at games... this may be a solid point.

Shaka’s players have gotten older and a little more developed physically. But I don’t think he has helped develop their talents at all.
And if anything their bad habits have gotten worse.

Fire the fraud.
