Everyone shook their heads when Kansas City took workout warrior Dontari Poe in the first round. People pointed out he was largely dominated in C-USA, and his deficiencies are really shining in camp. He has not received a ton of reps early in training camp, and when asked about the situation, Chiefs head man Romeo Crennel said he has a TON of work to do if he wants to get on the field. "He needs to work on technique, he needs to work on understanding the system, he needs to get the calls correct all the time. He's got a ways to go,"
So far, Poe has practiced as only a nickel defender in training camp. Crennel says Poe is a major project. Anthony Toribio is working as the starting nose tackle.
When asked about the issues, Poe acknowledged the difficulty of adjusting to the NFL game. "It's all different," Poe said Wednesday, Aug. 8. "The technique of it, there's nothing the same about the college level. The only thing the same is that it's football. As far as the speed level and the strength and all that, you've got to learn it all over again."
English translation, hes getting his ass kicked. Most useless pick of the draft.
