This was always one to watch even after he committed this summer. Not surprised at all he has opened things up.

I know this one was always a possibility, but can't we get through one week with good news and not bad news.  Every week it's bad news after bad news with this team.  Even when they get some good news it's followed by something negative. Injury after injury. Sorry, just venting. and being pessimistic today.

I just pray that this is rock bottom for this year and not a loss to Baylor or Kansas.  Holy crap, I'm usually very optimistic...what the hell has happened to me? Sho and Daniel, I need help.

Well this has been the year of suppose high expectations for this team. Mostly the defense has improved but yet this team is far from being in tempo and pace with each other. Honestly tex to tell you the God honest truth, we all feel the same way. High hopes for this year yet it is a rebuliding year BUT taking longer than anticipated.

Optimism and realism dont always go hand in hand.

This was expected though.  If we can put some wins and stop looking inept on offense the tide would turn.

Hate to say it but I don’t blame him. 3-4... It takes every part of myself to not be nagative, let alone a recruit. Bet it’s not the last to de-commit

3-4 had nothing to do with it. Despite the losses, Texas is carrying a very good rep right now. Our defense is the envy of the NCAA. And its quite clear we need a TE.

He was considering this back when we were 2-1.

I'd say its the result of intense recruiting by some of the top programs who need a quality TE.

Here's what I'm dumbfounded by . . . . Last year Herman just more or less put a patch work class together and managed to grab a couple of TEs that few had even heard about. The whole mantra at the time was we'll get our TEs next year.

From the looks of things, last year's class will easily be better than this year's TEs.

So then there's Epps, who looks better on defense than he does on offense.

This is why MM was so damned important.

I wouldn't count on Luke Ford either.  Bama' or Georgia bound.

I hope your right! Got a talented class so far

I like the freshmen TEs we have now. And basically Warren has become a defacto TE this year and likely does the same next year.

I really like Brewer. He works hard and has some David Thomas in him I think. He worked hard over the summer and got himself bigger and in great shape.

Leitau I haven't really seen yet. I hear good things about him but haven't noticed him yet.

I disagree. Our "rep" even by us diehards is really taking a hit. Had we finished OU and OSU off when we had the chance I think DWA would have stuck at least until thseason end. A JUCO kid in particular doesn't want to walk into a rebuild since they have limited elgibilty.

Recruits want to play on a winning team. If the opportunity for early playing time was of huge importance then Alabama wouldn't routinely have a top 5 class and we would currently have O lineman beating the door down to get in.

We all knew our success on the field would determine what type of class we would get.

Herman is the one selling our program to these kids. Its going to become harder to buy in when the biggest factor for the team losing is suppose to be the head coaches forte.

If we don't get the offense fixed Herman's credibility will suffer and the Head Coaches credibility might be the most important factor in recruiting.

I hate to sound all doom and gloom because we still have time to get things fixed but the clock is ticking and no one will give a rats ass about the excuses when the clock stops.

Obviously, I disagree. I think the hypersensitivity is confined to a large portion of the Longhorn nation. I mean, they're writing stories this week on how Longhorn fans feel and what we've been through for years. What everyone else thinks is where the writer turns it around and makes the case for a stellar job by Herman. And it was dead-on.

As I explained in detail in a previous post, at best you have a push on what was expected this season from this team. No one called a win over USC, OU, OSU. No one called a win over KSU or a loss to Maryland. So we're back to square one about where we figured we'd be. And we're having a big fat cow about it.

We're trying to fire an OC. We're ready cast off tailbacks who can't gain yardage. We're ready to sacrifice the neighborhood stray in a voodoo ceremony to do whatever we can outside of accepting the painful truth. We have an OL in deep caca.

Thats a solvable problem for the future. So no, I don't think recruits are looking at this and thinking anything other than what they're seeing – a team playing lights out and coming up short against teams they were never supposed to be playing with in the first place.

And I most certainly disagree with your last sentences. Rational thinking people make assessments at the end of the season and can easily see we are in a different universe than we were any of the last 6-7 seasons.

We're a spoiled fan base when we refuse to remember our own thoughts and words of just a few months ago because we were teased with thinking we'd win a big one. The big one will come and the evidence for that has been laid out before you.
